~ Manny Coachen planning on speaking with Calisto Yew

Manny Coachen is a major antagonist in Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth. Albeit serving as the victim of the final case, Turnabout Ablaze he plays a major role in the Cohdopian Smuggling Ring. He's responsible for Cece Yew's murder and getting away with it and eventually planned to betray Quercus Alba by switching two ambassador statues to usurp the sway of affairs towards the Bahbalese Embassy. As a result, his actions led to Quercus Alba taking action to get rid of him.

Biography[]

Manny Coachen joined the Cohdopian Smuggling Ring at some point in the past, helping his boss Quercus Alba smuggle various objects and create counterfeits to make a profit. Coachen was one of the high-ranking members of the Cohdopian Smuggling Ring and had great influence. At some point prior to the events of Turnabout Reminiscence, Coachen was tasked with dispatching an embassy worker named Cece Yew who planned to expose the smuggling ring for their misdeeds. However, he was arrested for his crime and tried for it. Fortunately for him, Ernest Amano and his group stole the evidence needed to prove his guilt. As a result, he was acquitted for the murder. He also took part in the scheme to spy on the Yatagarasu group and did briefing sessions with the spy Calisto Yew.

Eventually, Manny Coachen became acquainted with the Babahlese Embassy under another ambassador named Colia Palaeno. He quickly became one of his favorite workers, being an effective secretary and getting things done. However, behind the scenes he schemed to destabilize Zheng Fa by printing worthless cash and gain the profits for himself and the Cohdopian Smuggling Ring. Eventually, Allebahst and Babahlese planned to reunite together in peace and discussed a method to decide which country can hold the sway of affairs in the reunited country. Sensing his chance to have political gain and backstab Alba, Coachen hired a Mask Demasque copycat named Ka-Shi Nou to swap the Primidux statue with a fake in order for the Babahlese end of the split country to hold the sway of affairs regarding the reunification. However, his plan failed when Quercus Alba killed the thief and planned on killing Coachen. As a result, the two fought each other as Coachen stabbed Alba but failed to defend himself as Alba fatally stabbed him back. His actions would eventually lead to the fall of the smuggling ring.

Personality[]

In spite of not appearing much, Manny Coachen is shown to keep things close to his chest. To an outsider, he appears as a well-mannered individual, eager to do his work. He's intelligent and effective at what he does, serving as a high rank of the Cohdopian Smuggling Ring and helping Colias Palaeno with the Babahlese Embassy. However, in his interior he's nothing more than a callous man who only does his actions to benefit himself. He's good at deceiving others due to being secretive and has his actions calculated to hit those before they even knew what hit them. He cares little about the lives and interests of others, getting away with Cece Yew's murder without remorse and willing to betray his boss for political gain.

Trivia[]

  • Manny Coachen is one of the few villains in the series to have been able to get away with murder, being acquitted for his crimes.
