Mantah Corporation are the main antagonists of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous.
They are a bioengineering company that is rivals with InGen and Biosyn, using Sammy Gutierrez as their spy at Camp Cretaceous so they can acquire InGen's technology and use it to create dinosaurs themselves. It is shown that they make money by forcing their dinosaurs to fight in illegal matches invested in by morally corrupt people, and they have been capturing dinosaurs from Isla Sorna for a decade.
History[]
Mantah Corp was a corporation that was founded before 1993 and headed by Daniel Kon. They tried to beat InGen in cloning the first living dinosaur, but Mantah Corp themselves were beaten because of Henry Wu's genetics. Since then, they have attempted to steal InGen's research and bioengineering technology for themselves. Eventually, they came across Sammy Gutierrez's family and gave them a loan. They also blackmailed the Gutierrez family that if they don't send Sammy to be their spy at Camp Cretaceous, then they'll lose everything they owned. Despite the family refusing to do such a thing to their daughter, she volunteered to be their spy anyway as she didn't want her family to lose their property.
During the events of the Camp Cretaceous, Mantah Corp has Sammy obtain valuable information from the Research Lab, where she steals skin samples from a Sinoceratops and even uploads Henry Wu's files into a drone. After she sneaks out of Henry Wu's office, she lies to Brooklynn that she was looking for the washroom. Later on, Brooklynn finds evidence of Sammy taking DNA samples from a Sinoceratops while using her smartphone to edit a video she made, and Sammy steals it to erase any evidence. It is after the phone is destroyed after it fell out of Sammy's pocket when she tells the other campers about her involvement with Mantah Corp, and Yaz feels betrayed by her, but Sammy eventually tells Darius why she really came to Camp Cretaceous.
A month later, when Brooklynn, Yasmina, and Sammy go back to Henry Wu's old lab, they begin to wonder if Eddie has been secretly working for Mantah Corp all along. After six months, as Mantah Corp's drone flies further throughout Isla Nublar, the first Scorpios rex created by Henry Wu attacks and destroys it, rendering it completely useless. They are eventually mentioned when Sammy talks to Yasmina, and later on Brooklynn, about saving her family from Mantah Corp.
After having left Isla Nublar, the campers become stranded on a new island, which is revealed to be an island Mantah Corp uses to force the dinosaurs to fight. After recognizing Kash, who is the one that threatened her family with her going to Mantah Corp, Sammy and the others come up with a plan to stop him. After Darius is captured by Kash, he acts like he hates dinosaurs and as a spy for the rest of the group. At the end of the season, it is revealed that the leader of Mantah Corp is actually Kenji's father Daniel Kon, much to Kenji and the other campers' shock.
Although Kon stops Kash’s attempted murder on the protagonists and him, he soon releases him from imprisonment so he and Mae can finish the mind control chips for the investors. Despite Kash trying to appease his boss, Daniel chooses his son over Kash. The campers disable the mind control chips, getting two investors accidentally killed. Kash takes one of the controllers and tried to kill Daniel with a pair of raptors so he can take over Mantah Corp but the control chips were scrambled, and thus, the raptors eat him instead. Lana Molina the only investor to survive, decides to get Daniel into contact with Biosyn for the control tech, after which he imprisons kids while he abs Kenji travel to Isla Nublar.
The "Nublar Six" managed to finally defeat Mantah Corp and trick Daniel into believing that the core connecting the entire island was about to explode. Following their defeat and Daniel Kon in prison, the children, with the help of Dr. Mae Turner, later transformed the island into a dinosaur sanctuary instead of a battlefield, keeping it a secret from the rest of the world.
Jurassic World Chaos Theory[]
It's revealed that at some point after the Dinosaur Outbreak, the Department of Prehistoric Wildlife eventually discovered the existence of Mantah Corp Island and seized the dinosaurs after an investigation, but the Nublar Six, aside from Darius, managed to smuggle Bumpy off first. One of Ben Pincus' conspiracy theories from the Dark Jurassic website is about Mantah Corp having a secret underwater base.
Having been released from prison into a halfway house in the five and a half years since the Mantah Corp Incident, Daniel Kon mentions that the Nublar Six had brought down Mantah Corp when they had exposed his crimes. Daniel tries to get Kenji to help him build a new company in exchange for information about Brooklynn, stating that he's been having trouble finding investors after being disgraced, but Kenji ultimately refuses saying that he would never, ever go down the path he once took again.
When a pack of Atrociraptors kill the guard at the halfway house and corner Daniel, the Atrociraptor Handler arrived with a whistle and orders them to go after Darius and Kenji. Despite being spared, Daniel notices Kenji is about to be killed and redeems himself by sacrificing himself so that Kenji and Darius can escape from the Atrociraptors, telling his son to run with a smile on his face before being killed with a claw to the head. After that, Manta Corp was permanently closed as it now remained abandoned and forgotten.
Trivia[]
- Their name is a reference to the Manticores from Persian mythology, which are creatures with various different animal body parts. This is significant because Mantah Corp is a company that attempted to create the first living dinosaur using genetics.
