~ Marceline to her minion. |
Marceline Abadeer, also known as The Star, is the titular secondary antagonist of the Max adult animated series Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake episode "The Star".
Unlike Marceline from the original dimension, this alternate version is more bloodthirsty, cruel, ruthless and selfish since she was raised by The Vampire King of said dimension. This Marceline, like her anti-heroic version, also lost her mother and was abandoned by her father, only in this reality she never met Simon Petrikov (because he was dead), therefore she never had a close father figure to empathize with, and thus became a different person from childhood.
Like her original counterpart, she is voiced by Olivia Olson.
Personality[]
In contrast to her main counterpart, this version of Marceline is shown to be a sadistic and childish psychopath with virtually no redeemable qualities. She shows no hesitation when it comes to sucking someone's blood or soul, taking delight in it even.
She seems to have some sorta obsession with Bonnie that (so far) remains unexplained, flirting with her and toying with her whenever she meets her, and kills her own minions for questioning why she doesn't just kill her.
It's possibly they may of had some sorta past relationship that could of lead to this, this is especially evident by the fact this is clearly meant as a parallel to the more romantic type relationship of their main counterparts and the ones in Fionna & Cake's world.
Despite being far more evil than her main counterpart, she does still (though more indirectly) have a "tragic" side to her, as it's made clear (in another universe) that she wouldn't turn out so bad if she were raised by Simon instead of the Vampire King.
History[]
In her dimension, this version of Marceline never had Simon Petrikov to raise her under his wing due to the fact he was killed by vampires, not having the crown to protect him. She was instead taken by the Vampire King, who raised and trained her into his loyal ward, becoming a vampire and a more sadistic, evil, and murderous version of her other dimensions self, being feared by the citizens of Ooo, and was dubbed "The Star".
At some point, she met Bonnibel Gumball and started an ongoing archenemy relationship.
Trivia[]
- Following the rest of the vampires from the Stakes arc having explicit or sub-textual connections to tarot, Marceline raised by the Vampire King is known as The Star. The Star card can represent new hopes and revelations, but inverted can mean loss and despair, much like the situation of the vampire overrun universe.
- It's implied she feels something for Bonnie, with the way she acts a bit flirty with her and gets annoyed when her minions talk bad about her and suggest she should just kill her already.
