Marcella Callasantos is an antagonist in Marvel Comics. She is the mother of Lucia and Maria who would eventually become the mutants known as Thornn and Feral. Marcella and her husband's abusive nature is what would turn their two oldest children into the anti-hero and anti-villians they are today. Her first and only appearances were in the X-Force Vol 1 #40 & X-Force Vol 1 #41 comics in flashbacks when Feral and Thornn tell the story of their childhood and after that the two sisters never mention about their mother or family again.
Biography[]
Marcella Callasantos was the mother of four children Luica, Maria and two twins who lived in Bronx New York with a drunk, drug addicted, abusive husband. Her husband always took his anger out on her and his kids because Marcella couldn't stand up to her husband for everything he did to her Marcella also took her anger out on her children.
Both Marcella and her husband never wanted kids and both of them blamed their children for their own problems. But when Marcella gave birth to Matteo and Carolina four kids were to much for her husband to handle so he left. Once their dad left Marcella become worse her drinking problem and her drug addiction started to increase. Marcella put the blame on Lucia and Maria for their father leaving aside from her abusive nature getting worse once the twins were born Maria and Lucia saw aside of their mother they had never seen before.
Marcella started favoring Matteo and Carolina more then her two older children. Both Lucia and Maria grew jealous and couldn't understand why Marcella blamed them for their father leaving and why she favored the twins more than them. Being the oldest sibling Luica remembered everything about her father and knew what kind man he was she knew that Marcella was wrong she blamed them for their father leaving. Maria didn't have a lot of memories about her father since she was younger than Lucia Maria believed that their father was a good man and blamed the twins thinking that they caused him to leave. With very little memory of how bad their father was Maria blamed their mother as well for her father leaving believing that her mother was a bad parent while believing her father was nice.
Not long after Mr. Callasantos left his family Marcella remarried again to a man named Harry Bellinger Lucia's suprise their mother fell in love with another abusive, alcoholic, drug addict. Maria was upset that their mother chose this man over their father who she still believed was a good man. Not long after Harry Bellinger became the new father in the Callasantos family Marcella and her children eventually recieved news on Mr. Callasantos he died from a drug overdose. Maria was angry and blamed her younger siblings again believing if the twins didn't cause their father to leave none of this would have happened.
Shortly after the news about Mr. Callasantos and the arrival of Harry Bellinger in their home Marcella became even worse. While she abused Maria and Lucia Marcella protected the twins Matteo and Marcella. She supported the younger siblings spoiling them, praising everything they did Matteo and Marcella believing that the two of them could do no wrong in her eyes. Lucia knew that Matteo and Marcella were innocent and had done wrong but Maria finally had enough of them getting all the attention from their mother. So when Maria was left alone with her younger siblings both Matteo and Marcella died in mysterious accidents at home when no one else was around.
However the deaths of the twins didn't make things better in the Callasantos family instead it made things worse Marcella was not happy about this. Over the years Harry Bellinger started getting worse abusing Marcella, Lucia and Maria even more. His drinking and drug addiction started getting worse as well. As Herry's abusive nature, drug addiction and alcoholism grew so did Marcella's. When Lucia and Maria got older Harry Bellinger started become attracted to the two girls and started flirting with them. Marcella refused to believe her two daughters whenever they told her about Herry. Finally one day when their mutation began and Harry tried to rape Lucia Maria finally had enough and killed him. Before killing him when Harry made his sexually advancements on them he told the two girls that he loved furries.
When Marcella found out that Maria killed Herry she had enough she knew hitting or hurting Maria and Lucia would do nothing. Marcella decided to kill Maria's pet pigeons instead since Maria killed Herry Marcella decided to take away what Maria cared about her pet birds. When Maria saw Marcella kill her pigeons Maria finally snapped and in a fit of rage and anger killed their mother. Although Marcella, Mr. Callasantos and Harry are dead these three adults turned Feral and Thornn into the people they are today.
Their parents and their mother's boyfriend showed Maria and Lucia that you can't count on anyone or trust anyone not even family. Through the abuse of their mother and her two husbands Maria and Lucia learned how hard, rough and tough life can be they learned how cruel the world is and that it doesn't care about anyone.
The abuse and hate broke the family apart. Maria because unstable while Lucia became the level headed one but was to afraid to speak up and do anything. Whatever bond, love or good relationship the Callasantos family had it was long gone before Maria snapped and finally had enough of the abuse.
