Marigomori is an armadillo-themed Ayakashi with the ability to curl into his snail-like ironclad armor and roll over or jump attack his opponents who's bent on making everyone more miserable than he is. He's also the main antagonist in episode 16 of 2009 TV series called Samurai Sentai Shikenger.

He is voiced by Mitsuhiro Ichiki.

History

Marigomori made his first appearance on the Junk Boat as Shitari was trying to have him introduced him to Doukoku, but due to his shy nature he'd hid behind some loose planks, but once he revealed himself to his boss Doukoku has a task in mind for him.

Marigomori made his first appearance onto the surface as he open fired at the civilians from the mouth lasers until he was stopped by the arrival of the samurais. He told them to buzz off as he's more an introverted than a fighter, but they refused to comply so once they're about to hurt him with their katanas he goes into his shell to block the attack and then strikes back, so no matter how hard they try on attacking Marigomori he'd always used his shell to block the attack that are dealt onto him. Thankfully the trio arrived to assist Takeru and Mako onto dealing with Marigomori who'd now hid himself within his shell, so Ryunosuke tries to used his Water Arrow and open fired at Marigomori, but it was bounced off, then Chiaki tried to use his Wood Spear to pierce his shell, but it withstood the attack and then Kotoha tried to use Land Slicer onto Marigomori's shell in hopes of cutting it, but it was bounced off as well. So with that he rolled into his ball and bounces off the samurais and then left the area to rehydrate himself.

Back in the Sanzu River Marigomori was bouncing across the sanzu water to hydrate himself while being watched by Shitari and Doukoku from the Junk Boat. Once he's done hydrating himself we went back to the surface to cause more mayhem onto the populace.

Back on the surface Marigomori was in his ball form as he was about to plow down the fleeing civilians until the Samurai shows up and block his path. Once the team transformed he went into his ball form and was about to knock them down, but they have plan in store for him and weakens his defense first they summon both a branch and boulders to form a wall to block his path, then they used fire and wind to heat his shell up and then cool it down with water. So with his shell now damage Takeru brings out his Rekka Daizantou and brought Marigomori down for the count with this finisher called Tora Five Ring Bullet.

However Marigomori has now evolved into a Mega Monster prompting the samurais to bring out ShinkenOh to battle this giant monster. Now during the giant battle they tried to finished him off with a Daishinken Samurai Slash, but once again he used his shell to block the finisher and then went into ball mode and bounced back and forth at the mecha. So they repeat the same process as before first they use the Kabuto to heat the shell, then Kajiki to cool the shell down and then used Tora to finish Marigomori off with this finisher called Tiger Drill Charge.

Trivia

• According to folklore, the Sazae-oni (栄螺鬼) is a yokai that resembles a large mollusk. Marigomori's tough shell is thought to be the basis of this legend.
