Marinette

Marinette is a Loa of violence and power within Haitian voodoo and folklore, she is also known as Marinette Bras Cheche (Marinette of the Dry Arms) or Marinette Pied Cheche (Marinette of the Dry Feet) and is often envisioned as skeletal - like all the Loa she is neither fully good nor fully evil but is one of the more openly feared of the Loa and for good reason.

Marinette is held by some as the spirit of the first Mambo who sacrificed a black pig at the start of the first Haitian Revolution and for this reason she has a twin-purpose of both an agent of violence and fear as well as a spirit that by her origin frees people of bondage (though she can also bring people right back to bondage if she wills it).

Marinette is only cruel when it comes to possession, where she is infamous for burning animals and humans alike, she is otherwise fairly neutral but as her role suggests she is more than capable of violence if necessary - she is associated with screeching owls and is the protector of werewolves, she is fond of lavender, black pepper and sweets.. her preferred sacrifices are black pigs and roosters, which are plucked alive.
