“ | Marquis Radu: Oh yes, the Microverse, as you call it, has always been chaos, war, overseen by a mad God. I intend to end that with a serial killer. Katy Kiernan: With a serial killer? Are you sure it's the God that's mad? Marquis Radu: Yes. I am. Let me show you. Unlike yours, our universe is limited,. We exist within you, but we are so much more. We are held back from our potential by the almighty, by the Enigma Force. But once the Microverse was breached by the creatures we now call the Symbiotes. They were poison to our universe, their presence enough to break it down. The symbiotes very nearly destroyed us and they very nearly destroyed the Enigma Force itself.. The symbiotes attempted to bend with God, to consume it. In the end, the Enigma Force destroyed the mindless beasts, expelling them from the Microverse. Katy: Why would you bring them back? Marquis: Because I want to become God. And in order for me to be the new God, I have to kill the old one. |

~ Marquis Radu announcing his plans to Katy Kiernan. |
Marquis Radu is a minor antagonist in Marvel Comics, serving as the overarching antagonist of the Minimum Carnage event. Once a student of Baron Karza, upon Karza's ultimate end for the restoration of Homeworld, Marquis Radu became his successor in being the Microverse's tyrannical conqueror. Upon learning about the Microverse's near annihilation by the hands of the Symbiotes, Radu frees Carnage to bring the Symbiotes back to destroy the Microverse and the Macroverse and remake it in his image as the new God.
Appearance[]
Marquis Radu is a mysterious looking being, always donning a black hooded robe that always covers his face in shadow, while in his chest and arm, he has green armour.
Personality[]
Marquis Radu is a delusional hypocrite, claiming a disdain for senseless slaughter while justifying how all the slaughter he commits makes sense. A megalomaniac extraordinaire, Marquis Radu is deeply resentful over God itself and seeks to take his place as the essence of life itself, uncaring about how many lives will be lost in the process. Matching the vicious ambitiousness of his teacher, just like the late Baron Karza, these traits prove to be Radu's undoing as while he still lives, his plot to become a god has backfired horribly as he realizes he cannot control Carnage.
Biography[]
Once a student to Baron Karza, who was the Microverse's most infamous conquerors, on the basis of scientific expertise, upon Karza' ultimate demise and the restoration of the Homeworld, Marquis Radu ascends the throne as Karza's successor and becomes an equally infamous conqueror, having grown envious of the Microverse's god who organized the Enigma Force, seeking to kill him and take his place as the Microverse's very essence. Radu eventually finds a way to achieve this when he looked through history books to learn of the Microverse's near annihilation by the Symbiotes before their ultimate expulsion when they corrode and corrupted the very Enigma Force, and so sought to use it for his own ends.
Dispatching a squadron of his mercenaries onto the 616 universe (Macroverse), and use them to free Cletus Kassady, the host for Carnage, and bring him to the Microverse under the process of turning the Microverse as his playground to kill as he pleases. Eventually Agent Venom, who in truth is Flash Thompson who has bonded with the Venom symbiote, as well as the Scarlet Spider, with the former teaming up with the Enigma Force, his teacher's old enemies. Cornering them, Marquis Radu has them all captured, and then takes Carnage and Venom away to clone an army of Symbiotes and feed thousands of prisoners to them and then unleash them so as to destroy the Enigma Force that binds the Microverse and the 616 universe together and annihilate all reality so that he could rebuild, while justifying how this slaughter is one that makes sense.
Sparing Katy Kiernan, a human journalist for the 616 universe, to gloat about his plans and have her document his triumph, and when she dissents, has her taken away to clone and then kill her as he does to many other servants until they become subservient to him. As his plan initiates, Carnage manages to take over Radu's plan and controls the Symbiotes himself, however Radu still believes he is victorious as his plan is coming to fruition as the Symbiotes annihilate the 2 universes for him, leaving in the ensuing chaos. Carnage was ultimately defeated and expelled from the Microverse, saving all of reality, however Radu is noted to still be at large for the Enigma Force to face.
