| ~ Martin Hatch. |
Martin Hatch is the secondary antagonist of 2016 video game Quantum Break. He is the CEO of Monarch Solutions and Paul Serene's second-in command.
He was voiced by the late Lance Reddick, who also played Papa Legba in American Horror Story, Sylens in Horizon and voiced General Lunaris in DuckTales.
History[]
Not much is known of Martin Hatch's past, but he was exposed to Chronon radiation after finding a time machine created by the irregularity of Meyer-Joyce field. After his exposure, Hatch was capable of manipulating and could walk through stutters, and became "Chronon active". Eventually, Hatch developed Chronon syndrome, and became unstable, becoming triggered by instantons rage and pain. In addition, Hatch existed in multiple timelines all at once, and appears to not be killable.
Upon having Chronon syndrome, he was driven insane, but was able to find stability within stutters by the End of Time. Hatch also learned how to control his state and taught himself how to exist in all periods of time, and had eye drops able to control his new state.
Possibly knowing of all the timelines due to William Joyce's time machine, Hatch joined Monarch Solutions in 2001, and became a trusted ally of Paul Serene. Serene trusted him dearly, and Hatch eventually became CEO and the public face of the company, as Paul worked behind the scenes.
Quantum Break[]
Hatch is first seen when Paul Serene returns from the attack on the university. Once Serene has arrived at the base, Hatch welcomes him and tells him that the transport supposed to bring Jack Joyce in is overdue and that he believes that there is a traitor inside Monarch.
He also reminds Serene of the captured eye witnesses from the university, asking whether they should be executed, possibly leading to the public asking questions, or whether Hatch should broadcast a PR strategy instead, leaving them with the loose ends.
After Serene has made his choice, Hatch makes a phone call to the hacker Charlie to organize the hunt for Jack Joyce. He then returns to Serene, unhappy with him for taking the threat of the traitor inside far to lightly. His tone causes Serene to remind him that while Hatch is the face of Monarch, Serene is still the one running the show.
