Martin James Kirby is the main antagonist of the 2019 political action thriller film Angel Has Fallen, the third instalment of the Has Fallen film series.
He is the corrupt Vice President of the United States during President Allan Trumbull's term. By the time of the events of the film, Kirby betrays his nation upon conspiring with Wade Jennings to have President Trumbull assassinated, pinning the blame on Mike Banning.
He was portrayed by Tim Blake Nelson, who also played Dr. Pendanski in Holes, Jonathan Jacobo in Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, Officer LeFlore in Meet the Fockers, Samuel Sterns in The Incredible Hulk and Harvey Elder in Fantastic Four.
Biography[]
After the attack, Vice President Martin Kirby is sworn in as acting President due to Trumbull being in a coma. After Trumbull comes out of his coma, Kirby is revealed to be involved with Jennings. He plans to retaliate by attacking Russia due to the "assassination attempt" on the President After Banning is exonerated, Trumbull and Gentry arrests Vice President Kirby for treason and corruption thanks to the evidence uncovered by late FBI Agent Helen Thompson.
For his crimes, Martin Kirby is likely given life without parole; the mandatory sentence for high treason in America.
Personality[]
Although he seemed like a loyal yet very shy character, Kirby was actually in reality a corrupt and treacherous mastermind who was determined to become the new president, so he goes to war with Russia. Kirby was also determined to have anyone else who stand in his way die and frame Mike Banning for his actions to avoid suspicious even if it meant to ruin his reputation.

- Martin Kirby is so far the only antagonist in the Has Fallen series to be arrested and not die.
- Before the film's release, Wade Jennings was thought to be the main villain because he started the terrorist attack and did all the work. However, Martin Kirby was revealed to be the true mastermind behind the events and the one who came up with the plot.
- Just like his predecessor Aamir Barkawi, Kirby had no direct contact with Mike Banning or did the heavy lifting like Wade Jennings.
