Marty and Claude are the main antagonists of the 1964 Addams Family series episode "Halloween with the Addams Family". They are robbers who hide out at the Addamses' house.
They were portrayed by the late Skip Homeier and Don Rickles respectively.
Biography[]
While fleeing from the police, Marty and Claude run out of gas, as Claude forgot to fuel the car during their last robbery. He had also dropped his gun in the getaway. Frustrated with Claude's ineptitude, Marty holds on to the loot. They hide behind a tree outside the Addams family's house as the police car following them searches through the neighborhood. As Gomez and Grandmama take Pugsley and Wednesday out the door for trick-or-treating, Claude puts on a mask so he would not be recognized, though Marty is not in favor of it. The Addamses spot the robbers and mistake them for trick-or-treaters. Gomez invites them in, while Grandmama goes out with the children. Claude and Marty are amazed and unsettled by the family's bizarre appearances and home accessories. Gomez offers them apples and asks them to open their bag, which Marty flatly refuses. When Lurch grabs it, Marty reaches for his gun but Claude calms him down. Gomez believes the stolen money are donations from the neighbors, and puts more cash, from a drawer, in the bag. Marty and Claude are impressed with Lurch's face, thinking it is a mask, and Marty asks Lurch where he bought it before learning it is not what it seems. Frightened by the home's atmosphere, the robbers try to leave but decide to stay for a while when they hear the police siren.
While the Addamses are out of the living room and preparing for the festivities, Marty and Claude decide to steal the cash in the drawer and take off when the coast is clear. However, Thing overhears their plan and, as Marty is unlocking the drawer, takes away the gun in his pocket and switches it with a breadstick. When Gomez and Morticia come in with the punch, Marty pulls out the breadstick on them and realizes it is not his gun. As the Addamses are about to read the Halloween poem, Claude is so afraid that he even prefers going to jail. After the poem is finished, the thieves run to the door and see the police car outside the house, so they still stay inside. They are reluctant to go first in the crab bobbing game, but when the police come to the door, the robbers stick their heads into the tub. The crab is gripping their noses with its claws after the police have left. Marty says he would rather wrestle a lion than play the game again. Morticia takes this literally and calls the family's pet lion Kitty Kat. Marty and Claude yell no, scaring away Kitty. By this point, Claude thinks they would be better off leaving, but Marty insists on stealing the money. Marty proposes a game of hide-and-seek, so they can rob the Addamses when they are hiding. While Marty and Claude start stealing cash from the drawer, Thing locks them in. As Claude tries to take a cane to break a window, Thing grabs it back. As Marty and Claude look for an exit, they find Uncle Fester and Lurch. When Grandmama and the children return, the robbers scamper out the door. They are caught by the police shortly after and escorted into the car. Gomez later reads in the newspaper that Marty and Claude went to prison.
