Mason Brahmer is the main antagonist of the Chicago P.D. episode "There's My Girl". He was the mastermind behind a bomb attack on his own establishment which killed several people.
Background[]
Born Ross Montag, he would live with his first wife in Portland, until Mason caused a steering fluid leak in his wife's car, causing the car to explode and his first wife to die. Police and Detectives suspected of Mason, but had no proof that Mason was to blame, Mason gets about $250,000 from his wife's life insurance, uses that money to move out of Portland and start over, being able to get another wife, named Elizabeth. At some point Mason wanted to repeat the modus operandi that had worked for him before, Mason planned to cause an attack in the cafeteria he had with his wife, an attack that looks like an accident or an attack and incidentally kill his current wife, so he hires an electrician and ex-con who worked for him, Sam Carden. Carden made and placed a bomb inside his cafeteria, so that after the explosion he could collect the insurance. Brahmer would remain safe in the kitchen until the moment of the explosion, which injured several people and killed two others.
There's My Girl[]
Mason appears at the beginning of the episode, right after the bomb went off, Mason approaches Adam Ruzek and asks about his wife, Elizabeth, pretending to be worried, Elizabeth was being carried on a stretcher to the hospital for being near the explosion, although she would later die in the hospital. Alvin Olinsky and Adam Ruzek question Mason about a gang member who had vandalized his truck after Mason failed to pay protection money. Mason doesn't reappear until the end of the episode, where they realize that he had paid Sam Carden to make and place the bomb, we see Mason already inside the cage, where he asks Hank Voight what he was doing there, Hank begins to tell him how Mason years ago was the main murder suspect in a supposed accident that his wife had, so Hank wanted to propose a deal to Mason, but he responds with "go to the hell". Hank got fed up with being nice and opens the cage door, entering with Mason, Brahmer, somewhat scared, takes a step back, saying that what happened in Portland was an accident, Hank stands in front of Mason, who also asks him about his name change, Mason says he just wanted to start over, Hank tells him he didn't believe anything Mason said, Mason tries to explain that he had been inside the cafeteria during the explosion, but Hank points out that Mason he was protected by a kitchen made of steel, where the explosion wouldn't do as much damage, so Hank lies, saying that Sam Carden was still alive, Mason tries to cover it up, saying that he didn't know who Sam was, Hank continues to ask, is this When asked about the reason for the attack, Hank asks if it was the insurance money, or if Mason just hated women, Mason is speechless and then Hank headbutts him and punches him, one for Elizabeth and the other for the girl. Mason's wife who died 8 years ago, Mason on the floor begs him to stop, Hank grabs him by the shirt and lifts him up, Hank lies to Mason, telling him that Sam was still alive, and that Mason has a chance to blame Sam telling him in great detail everything that had happened, and that if he didn't he was going to take Sam's version of the story, Mason falls for the trap and agrees to tell everything that happened, Mason would later be arrested of the murder of his wife and ex-wife and also the attack on his cafeteria.
