Master Zan is a major antagonist of Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! Once a benevolent mentor to Antauri and protector of the Power of Primate, he was eventually driven by pessimism through a vision, eventually leading him to decide to allow the Skeleton King to corrupt the Power of Primate so they can release the Dark Ones into the universe in attempt to reign chaos and suffering throughout the galaxies. He is the leader of the Verron Mystics.
Biography[]
Not much is known about Master Zan's past, but he's known to serve as Antauri's mentor. He was the protector of the Power of Primate and a great teacher that taught Antauri all he knew on how to use it. He and the Verron Mystics protected the Power of Primate of many years.
Eventually, Master Zan turned traitor to the side of good and decided to halt protecting the Power of Primate. While the circumstance of his treason is never fully explained, it's suggested that he received a vision of the end of Chiro, causing him to believe there would be no point of protecting the Power of Primate. As a result of his betrayal, he ordered the Verron Mystics to stop protecting the Power of Primate and allowed Skeleton King to corrupt it all for a plan to release the Dark Ones into the universal realm.
When Antauri felt the Power of Primate being disturbed, he grew worried and planned to go on a solo mission to investigate what was causing it. However, Chiro secretly tagged alongside him to help him with his mission. After the Verron Mystics greeted Antauri and led him towards Master Zan alone. Upon Antauri's arrival, Master Zan commented on Antauri's lateness and commented on the fact that the universe "hangs at the edge of a bottomless abyss" and showed him the corrupted state of the Power of Primate saying the Dark Ones managed to reach it, creating a pathway for them to reach the universe. Antauri was shocked when he saw the state of the Power of Primate and hoped Master Zan would reverse the process only for Master Zan to refuse and told him of the visions of the end of time and the "Chosen One" falling to the Dark Ones. After Antauri showed his concerns over Master Zan's words, Master Zan fully revealed his new alignment with the Skeleton King as the Skeleton King revealed their plans to Antauri. After Antauri witnessed this, he immediately tried to fight Master Zan only for the master to control the newly corrupted Power of Primate against him. As Antauri struggled to fight back, Master Zan kept on overpowering him as the Skeleton King taunted Antauri over failing to sense him through the Power of Primate. When Antauri furiously asked why Master Zan betrayed them, Master Zan expressed simply that's how it would be and there's no point in stopping it. After the exchange of words, Master Zan telepathically threw Antauri towards the Corrupted Power of Primate, imprisoning him onto it to prevent Antauri from moving. Upon this, the Skeleton King ordered him to kill Antauri and to complete the corruption as Master Zan happily obeyed. However, before Master Zan could complete the task Chiro attacked Master Zan in surprise, destroying his mask and revealing his true form. He was impressed that Chiro managed to reach through the gate to the Power of Primate but claimed he wasn't the Chosen One. When Antauri told him he was wrong, Master Zan replied by trying to hit him with quick blasts. Despite Antauri's best efforts to dodge them, he was eventually overwhelmed and thrown into the stairs. Chiro however snuck up behind him with the Power of Primate and dealt a blow to him. However, Master Zan used the situation to his advantage and sent Chiro's power towards the corrupted source. Upon claiming the end of the Hyperforce is at hand, the Hyperforce immediately arrived to lend their fellow members Chiro and Antauri their hand. In spite of their best efforts, however, they were unable to deal a critical blow to him. Upon taking them down easily, Master Zan set his sights on Chiro and attempted to take his power away from him. However, Chiro decided to take him up on his intentions and decided to launch his power towards him, being too much for him to handle and sending him into the source of the corruption. As a result, he was sucked into the corruption as he laughed at his success of fully corrupting the Power of Primate before meeting his demise. As a result of the corruption, the Skeleton King was able to send it towards the previously built Pit of Doom and managed to awaken the Dark One Worm which would spread its terror across the universe, planet by planet.
Personality[]
Not much is known about Master Zan's personality prior to his path to evil, but he's shown to fully embrace his newfound path towards the Dark Ones. He's incredibly cocky and prideful in his own knowledge, delusionally shutting any ideas that would go against his beliefs. He's shown to be incredibly pessimistic over the fate of the universe, using it as his basis for serving the Skeleton King and "showing" others that it's the truth even if he has to do so violently. He's also incredibly powerful and intelligent, being able to use his newfound powers to completely overpower his opponents and use their own tactics against them. Upon betraying Antauri and the side of good, he's shown to completely abandon all his good-will to his former protege and sees him as much lesser than he once was.
