Mateo was a sadistic sicario who kidnapped Antonio's son, Diego, and deliver him out of Chicago in exchange for Pulpo.
Biography[]
Stepping Stone[]
We first see Mateo in Rev's apartment room with Rev tied up. On Puplo's orders Mateo and Ernesto drag Rev to the bathroom. Mateo then takes the cloth out of Rev's mouth as Puplo comes in with a machete. They would later start to shoot at the intelligence unit and escape Rev's apartment room. They would later go to Coop's house and kill him too. They then went to Shane Cameron's place and killed him. However, a knock on the door startles them. One of them shoot's the door and the bullet hits Julie Willhite a Police Detective. They all escape the apartment room. However, there boss Pulpo is caught and arrested. Knowing this they kidnap Antonio's son Diego.
Wrong Side of the Bars[]
After Ernesto was given a tense interrogation by Voight and Dawson, Mateo was tracked down to a bus station with Diego right by his side. While sitting next to Diego Mateo would threaten the child to not make a ruckus or else he would kill him and his parents. Intelligence would contact the bus driver and have her pretend there is engine trouble so that they can safely evacuate everyone. The drive does as she is instructed and has everyone on the bus leave, but Mateo gets very suspicious. As soon as he realized he was surrounded by the police, he attempted to hold Diego at gunpoint, in which he had a standoff with Detective Lindsay. Detective Halstead managed to cause a distraction by ramming into the back of the bus, causing him to lose his balance and his grip on Diego. Diego would then be grabbed by Lindsay. As Mateo was regaining his balance and starts shooting at them, he was shot dead by Antonio.
Personality[]
Mateo has shown himself to be a sadist. This is shown when he joins Adres Diaz in murdering people and when Adres is captured he and Ernesto would kidnap one of the Detectives son Diego, who was just an eight-year-old boy. During that time, he would threaten Diego with killing him and his entire family to scare him into submission. When Mateo finds out that he is surrounded he wasted no time holding Diego at gunpoint and warned Detective Erin that he will kill Diego.
Killed Victims[]
Rev - Decapitated by Pulpo while Ernesto and Mateo held Rev down.
Coop - Decapitated by Pulpo, assisted by Mateo and Ernesto.
Shane Cameron - Shot in the chest by Pulpo, Ernesto or Mateo.
Julie Willhite - Died after being shot in the neck by either Pulpo, Ernesto or Mateo.
