I was sick of practicing all the time! It was such a drag! Practice! Practice! Boring! So I had to take a little... Shortcut.
~ Matilda to why she sold her soul and her last words before being taken to Hell by Beelzebub.

Matilda Patella is the main antagonist of the Moville Mysteries episode "Sold Your Soul For... What?". She is the seemingly affable sister of Rodney Patella who sold her soul for Polka as she was sick of practicing, so she took a shortcut by making a deal with Beelzebub, attempting to send Rodney to hell under a disguise of hers, until Beelzebub figured out she was lying and trying to manipulate the Prince of Darkness himself into sending her brother to hell, then ended up getting sent to hell by Beelzebub because of selling her soul to him.

She was voiced by Stephanie Ann Mills.

Biography[]

She first appears, playing an accordion in her room, saying hi along with her dad to her brother Rodney when she enters her room, then goes to Rodney's room so he can get out his guitar. When Rodney says it is broken, she says it isn't as she finds it and plays it, telling him if he could at least just do one tune, and says it saddens her to see a rift between their dad and him. She says that their father wishes he would be more interested in music rather than comics and video games, telling him how important music is in their father's life.

She closes Rodney's door in shock, telling Rodney she hoped that their father didn't hear Rodney say that when was Polka music. When Rodney says she wants him to play so she'll look better, she says him that he knows that isn't true, saying to him he should start something simple. She tells him that after a month of three hours a day practice sessions, Rodney will be ready to move on to higher accomplishments.

When their dad enters, she says to him that she is giving Rodney a guitar lesson, and when Rodney says she is just trying to impress their dad, she then responds that she is trying to help. When he takes the guitar from her, she says that all it takes is practice then leaves his room. She then plays accordion with her dad playing a tuba, then greets Rodney when he meets them again, when he says that he played a video game, she said it was wonderful being a platoon commander in a video game, and tells their dad that isn't it something. She then plays music again with her and Rodney's dad. In the living room, she plays her accordion, practicing, seeing Rodney with his guitar, she asks him if he wants help from her so he can practice, when he says he'll knock her socks off, she doesn't get it.

When Rodney at nighttime enters his house, he notices balloons and it's his and Matilda's birthday, and she gives him a present, which is a strap for his now burnt guitar, and hopes she likes it, though she doesn't know his guitar is burnt. When Rodney gets out of the house, Matilda seems sad. In the morning, when Rodney plays his new guitar in front of her in his room, she is amazed and says he has improved. When Rodney in the evening is playing his guitar in front of his dad and sister Matilda, and she likes it. She then says to her and Rodney's father that she will show Rodney how to play Polka. Rodney leaves when she says if they can get started.

She then finds Rodney in a alleyway, saying she has been looking all over for him and come home, when she asks him why he is scared when they go back home, he says he thinks agents of darkness are on him, and tells him what thinks he is in league with Beelzebub, referring to him as "You Know Who". When he tells her he met Blind Louie, and she tells Rodney that did he wreak a smell of fire and brimstone, though he says to her he smelled like a wet poodle, and she says to him that did he exchange his soul, with an evil expression on her face, foreshadowing her plans, though he wanted coffee and sticky buns.

When he says to her that it came with a IOU for one soul, she says he may have imagined the entire episode. When he asks her how he became good at guitar, she says to him that he practiced, then Beelzebub rings on the door, she sees him and tells him that they switch places, and tells him to go to her room and pretend to be asleep, while she'll give Beelzebub a piece of his mind (she was really trying to make Rodney get sent to hell in her place). When he says to her she is the best, she high fives him before he goes to her room to pretend to be asleep.

She then says to Beelzebub she is Rodney and how can she help him, he says he has come to collect what is his, she says come in and wipe brimstone on the carpet, when Beelzebub confronts Rodney, he tells Beelzebub that he is Rodney, and points at Matilda to her when she appears. She says that she thinks it is clever pretending to be her and nobody outwits the dark side, Beelzebub figures it out that Matilda is disguising herself and tells her she is coming with him, when Rodney says why she sold her soul for Polka, she says it was a drag, and boring, so she decided to sell her soul to Beelzebub, than Beelzebub than takes her to hell.
