Matsumoto Shigeo is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside the Ant Queen) of the Jeju Island Arc in the dark fantasy Korean light novel and manhwa Solo Leveling. He is the greedy chairman of the Japanese Hunters Association, who planned the fatal crisis that happened at the Jeju Island raid for his own schemes.
Appearance[]
Matsumoto is a middle-aged Japanese man presumable in his 40s. He has black hair parted on his left with white hair on the side, a black mustache and short beard. As the chairman of his association, he wears a formal suit and is often seen smoking a cigarette.
Personality[]
Matsumoto is a power-hungry, selfish, and manipulative man who focuses on nothing but his own sakes and values. He had utterly no issues to sacrifice other hunters, including those of his own country, for his plans, remaining unfazed and unbothered upon learning that Goto Ryuji and all of his comrades brutally perished at the hand of the Jeju Island boss, the Ant King. Despite this, as a mere human, he is aware that he is absolutely powerless against hunters, as he expressed his fear when his chairman rival, Go Gunhee, unleashed his overwhelming aura over him. He also had nerves to chat about mana crystals after his crimes were exposed by Gunhee.
