Matush Giamona is a minor character in the third and fifth season of the HBO Television Series The Sopranos.

He is a Pakistani-American associate of the Italian New Jersey DiMeo Crime Family, and of Jackie Aprile, Jr. He also acts as a drug dealer who sets up shop at nightclubs and strip clubs.

He was portrayed by Nick E. Tarabay, who also portrayed Captain Boomerang in Arrow, Eclipso in Stargirl, Butcher in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Ashur in the Spartacus films.

Biography[]

By late 2000, Matush befriended Jackie Aprile, Jr. after being introduced to him through Jackie's friend, Carlo Renzi, leading to Matush becoming an associate to his crew, most likely due to his Pakistani heritage. Prior to this event, however, Matush worked as a local drug dealer in Northern New Jersey, with him being known by various made men and associates of the DiMeo Crime Family. However, despite being known for his drug business, he was not well-liked as seen when he is hospitalized by Furio Giunta on the orders of Christopher Moltisanti for selling drugs inside of the Crazy Horse nightclub.

During the penultimate episode of Season 3, Matush takes part in the robbery of Eugene Pontecorvo's card game, orchestrated by Jackie Jr., acting as a getaway driver. As Jackie, Carlo and Dino Zerilli start the robbery, they are startled by Albert Barese entering the room, leading to Jackie murdering the card dealer, "Sunshine". After hearing the gunshots of Sunshine and Carlo's death, Matush drives off just as Dino and Jackie escape the building. Dino was murdered after Jackie escaped by stealing a woman's car and after Jackie went into hiding, he was later murdered by Vito Spatafore. Due to Matush never being identified as a part of the robbery, he was the only survivor.

Matush later reappears in the Season 5 episode, "Long Term Parking", in a flashback told by Christopher's fiancée, Adriana La Cerva which she recounted to the FBI after being caught holding a large quantity of ecstasy. According to Adriana, Matush was confronted by Gilbert Nieves, who accused him of ripping him off during a drug deal. After being threatened with a knife, Matush and his associate Kamal beat up Gilbert, leading to Matush stabbing him multipled times in the torso with his own knife. After murdering Gilbert, Matush disposed of the body with the help of Adriana. It is implied that Matush either returned to Pakistan or was arrested.
