Maude is a supporting antagonist in Dav Pilkey's Dog Man book series.
She is a corrupt member of the COPS who works alongside fellow police officers, Dog Man and Chief. With a furious hatred for Dog Man, she takes any opportunity to bully him with her friend, the Mean Cop. She goes as far as attempting to rule the world in spite of Dog Man. Because of this, she is one of Dog Man's two arch-nemeses, along with Dr. Scum.

Maude is a rude, abusive woman who has a serious vendetta against Dog Man, despite them being colleagues. She regularly harasses him with the Mean Cop, not stopping until Chief himself steps in to settle the conflict. Despite being an unlikeable jerk, she did not start off that way. In the earlier books, she was a rather ordinary officer, giving Chief birthday presents and greeting Dog Man.
Her hatred for Dog Man was first noticeable in "A Tale of Two Kitties", where she and the Mean Cop scold him for failing to bring back Flippy's corpse. From then on, she became a regular nuisance for Dog Man whenever she is present, her actions becoming more than just harassment; She falsely arrested Dog Man twice, only succeeding in the trails because the Judge shares the same distaste for the canine officer. Despite her severe crimes, the worst punishment she received was a scolding from Chief.

Dog Man[]
Throughout the first book, the Maude is just another nameless extra, not showing any antagonistic traits.
Dog Man Unleashed[]
In the second book, Maude and the Mean Cop are shown together for the first time, as they are seen together when giving Chief a birthday gift. They give him the "Supa Brain Dots", a drug that would seemingly help memory loss, yet it would also cause anger and telekinetic powers if overdosed. However, Chief denies his forgetfulness and scolds the two officers. However, he immediately asks who got him the medicine just seconds later, causing the two officials to jump backwards in exhaustion.
A Tale of Two Kitties[]
In the third book, Maude talks with Chief about how sending Dog Man to protect scientists while they study the dead brain of Flippy the Fish is a bad idea due to how one of Dog Man's bad habits was rolling around in dead fish, which Chief denies as he falls down with his chair due to the fact that Dog Man bit a chair leg earlier.
Later in the book, Maude and the Mean Cop are seen briefly bugging Dog Man after he hid behind a plant in embarrassment due to the fact he lost the dead body of Flippy.
Dog Man and Cat Kid[]
In the fourth book, Maude and the Mean Cop tease Dog Man again for hiding behind the same plant from the previous book due to how he was banned from the Gassy Behemoth Studios movie studio. However, they stop and apologize after Chief scolds them and tells them everyone has a bad day sometimes.
Brawl of the Wild[]
In the sixth book, Maude and the Mean Officer show a television audience about Frank's Bank being robbed the previous night by, who the presume to be, Dog Man, even though it was just a gang of anthropomorphic animals in disguise. Because of this, they arrest Dog Man and walk away to the courtroom, despite everyone else saying that it couldn't have been Dog Man. Outside the courtroom, they show their first act of cruelty when they say that Dog Man didn't belong and that he was a misfit. They say that he was too much of a dog, and not enough of a man, and run away laughing hysterically.
Grime and Punishment[]
In the ninth book, Maude is seen with the rest of the officers inside the city hall, where they attend Chief's award ceremony for being the best chief in town, even though he is the only chief in town.
Later, when Dog Man accidentally destroyed the city hall and the mayor's outfit, causing him to get fired, the two rude officials to show Dog Man that he didn't deserve to be a police officer and were glad that he was fired, especially since the rest of the officers were crying due to Dog Man's firing.
Mothering Heights[]
In the tenth book, the Maude and the Mean Cop harass a rehired Dog Man due to a dog cone he had to wear. They tease him a lot, saying that he should hide behind the plant like he always did and calling him 'Cone Head' multiple times. However, they quickly pee their pants and run to hide behind the plant after Dog Man presses a button on his dog cone, turning it into a gigantic super suit.
The Scarlet Shedder[]
Maude is one of the two secondary antagonists, along with the Dog Man A.I. Buddy.
After attending Chief and Nurse Lady's wedding along with the rest of the policemen and women, she collects the power of temporary chief while the wedded Chief and Nurse Lady are out on their honeymoon. Once collecting the power, she immediately goes to find Dog Man, who was distracted chasing a skunk that ended up spraying him, and runs directly into him, causing her to collect the skunk stench. Ironically, the skunk comes and sprays her, angering her.
Now stinking, Maude chases Dog Man up to the newly refurbished city hall while running over the Judge officiating the wedding, causing him to run into the hall, trip on a sign, fall down some stairs, and land on a support pillar, causing the entire building to collapse.
After Maude and the Judge argue, they end up settling over their differences and start blaming Dog Man for the damages. However, Dog Man runs away with Li'l Petey, 80-HD, and Molly to his residence. While stating that the judge and Maude will get Dog Man, they get sprayed by the skunk again. However, the two corrupt officials decide to team up against Dog Man and later Chief in order to be unstoppable.
Later during the day, Maude and the Judge ring the non-existent doorbell to Dog Man's house and capture him with a butterfly net once he gets outside. As 80-HD grabs their superhero costumes to save the day, the Judge steals them and informs the others that their crime fighting days were over.
In the courtroom the next morning, the Judge informs Dog Man that he was charged for moral turpitude, to which the public agree, despite the fact that they don't know what the word 'turpitude' is. After Dog Man 'mocks them with silence', the Judge sentences him to infinity in jail. As a reformed Petey the Cat states that they couldn't do that, Maude reveals once Chief got back, she and the Judge would sentence Chief for turpitudishness and have him join Dog Man in jail.
Later in the afternoon, the corrupt officials explained their evil plot to rule the world with their power after Chief is arrested, before laughing evilly. As dawn approaches, Maude and the Judge are seen along with other citizens creating their own A.I. Buddies to make them do all of the unlawful work as they go on social media and watch cat videos.
Throughout the rest of the day as nighttime has approached, Chief finally returns from his two-day long honeymoon. However, as Maude and the Judge were on their phones the entire day after making A.I. Buddies, they don't seem to notice and respond with simple "meh"'s when Chief reclaims his power as chief of police.
Big Jim Begins[]
Maude can be seen sleeping with the other heroes found throughout the book after being invited to a "hero party" created by the Space Cuties. During this party, she most likely eaten chocolate cake that was infused with sleep potion. Unlike everyone else invited, she never actually did anything too heroic in that party.

- While the Mean Cop shares her distaste for Dog Man, he is ultimately an ordinary cop outside of that, as he did not abuse his power to the same degree as Maude.
