Max Becker is the secondary antagonist of the video game RoboCop: Rogue City. He is a sneering executive (later acting CEO) of Omni Consumer Products whose plans bring upheaval to the company and Detroit as a whole.
History[]
After RoboCop suffers a debilitating glitch in an encounter with Wendell Antonowsky, which leaves Ann Lewis in the hospital, Becker is sent by OCP to supervise his status. For this purpose, he makes Alex Murphy undergo psychiatric evaluations with Dr. Olivia Blanche while putting a monitoring chip in his brain, and assigns persistent police applicant Ulysses Washington to serve as his temporary partner. Though he tries taking Murphy off the Wendell case, he goes behind Becker's back and continues investigating with Washington's help.
It is eventually suspected that due to his flippant personality, Becker is the mole in OCP providing funding for Antonowsky's schemes; however it becomes apparent that Antonowsky's resources are from his work in Project Afterlife, a secret project by the Old Man to survive past death, which Max actually seeks to shut down (alongside Delta City) in favor of his own plans. He unveils this to RoboCop by ambushing him with Urban Enforcement Droids (UEDs), fully robotic units with which he plots to replace the Detroit Police Department, including RoboCop himself. Murphy manages to defeat several waves of the machines, at which point Becker haphazardly frames it as a controlled demonstration in front of a shareholder to avoid arrest.
When the Old Man suddenly passes away from a heart attack, Becker fills his seat as chief executive officer, inviting a group of women to his office in celebration. Later, during Becker's public reveal of the UEDs at a tech expo, Wendell hacks the robots and turns them against the audience in retaliation for the funding cuts to Afterlife. Max hides behind RoboCop who faces down the hijacked machines once again, including an ED-209, until he can find the shutdown switch.
After Antonowsky's defeat, Becker is at OCP headquarters when he is attacked by a RoboCop 2 suit. Murphy arrives to find Becker grabbed by the neck; he tries appealing to RoboCop in hopes of sorting out the "misunderstanding" but the machine reveals itself as the Old Man having uploaded his brain postmortem, as he furiously chokes Becker to death for usurping his position and tosses his corpse onto the Delta City modeling table.
