Maximus Octavius "Max" Thunderman is one of the two main protagonists (alongside Phoebe Thunderman) of The Thundermans and The Thundermans: Undercover.
Despite growing up in a family of superheroes, Max wanted to become a supervillain because he felt overshadowed by Phoebe and wanted to be the best at what he does. His family believed that Max was just going through a phase and wasn't truly evil. Max had assistance by a supervillain-turned-bunny, Dr. Colosso and idolised Dark Mayhem. Eventually, Max had to make a tough choice between being a hero and a villain. He chose to become a superhero and has trained to become a superhero with the help of Phoebe. He is currently a co-commander of an elite team of superheroes, the T-Force, with Phoebe.
Max returns to his supervillain days after being mind-controlled and remembering how fun it was being a supervillain with reason being he was upset with how Phoebe did not trust him and thought he was evil again. However, he pretended to be a supervillain again to steal a mind-control device which contains the signature print revealing the true identity of Mastermind as Lazlo Chance.

Origin[]
Max and his siblings lived in Metroburg with his superhero parents Hank and Barb as Thunder Man and Electress fought supervillains and battled the Villain League. With the parents having four kids, Hank and Barb considered retiring and moving away to live a normal life. During Christmas, Max gave them coal as an act of rebellion but Hank uses his super strength to turn the coal into diamond which gave them money to retire and relocate to a house in Hiddenville. He used his bedroom as an evil lair during his evil phase. He shares his lair with a former supervillain-turned bunny, Dr. Colosso who helps Max to become a supervillain.
Evil Phase[]
While in Hiddenville, Max planned on attending Villain University by making dangerous gadgets in his lair. Max built a a gadget to increase the concentration of the chemicals in turkey that makes you really sleepy. He would use this to make super sleepy sandwiches so that he could make everyone sleep and he would draw mustaches on everyone's face, so the school would give him his own day, "Max Thunderman" Day. He would also constantly prank Principal Bradford.
He looked up to multiple supervillains, such as the Green Ghoul and Mike Evilman. He wanted to catch the Green Ghoul using a gadget he made so that he becomes the greatest supervillain ever. Max wanted Phoebe to get into a relationship with Link so that he can learn to become evil under Link's dad, and Hank's greatest enemy, Mike Evilman (Evilman).
Working for Dark Mayhem & Redemption[]
Max was finally offered the chance to become the supervillain he always wanted to be and join the Villain League when Dark Mayhem asked him to take away ThunderGirl's superpowers with a power-sapping orb. He was excited about the offer but reluctant to take his sister's powers. However, when Phoebe accidentally took away his powers with the orb and got him punished, Max felt compelled to get revenge. He took back his powers and that of his parents' powers as well as Nora's, Billy's, and Chloe's powers so that they won't try to stop him from taking Phoebe down. Max also declared himself a villain when Hank threatened disownment. Max confronted Phoebe and the siblings fought, with their peers discovering their secret. However, an emotional speech from Phoebe opened his eyes and made him realize that he already had it all - his friends, Allison and his family. So, Max made a courageous decision and stood up against Dark Mayhem. He restored his family's powers and helped them defeat Dark Mayhem and his minions. After that, the Hero League awarded him with the superhero cape, making him officially a superhero.
Temporary Return to Evil[]
After years of being a reformed and responsible superhero and being a co-commander of the T-Force, Max's undercover mission in Secret Shores is at risk so Max helps Penny Perfect to avoid become a supervillain to impress Captain Perfect. Max follows Penny to Mastermind's Henchmen hideout where they are recruiting. They both recruited and tasked to destroy Splat By-The-Sea. Max stops Penny before the restaurant is destroyed but Kiefer learns that Max has superpowers and uses the Chip-Chucker on him to turn him evil. Max is accused of theft and arrested. After Phoebe and Captain Perfect think Max is back evil again, he breaks out of the handcuffs with his superpowers and flees to Kiefer to learn that there is a mind-controlling chip turning him evil against his will. He is freed from the chip by Phoebe and Captain Perfect but feels betrayed. He steals gadgets belonging to the Hero League and assists the henchmen in capturing Phoebe and Captain Perfect but ultimately reveals he pretended to be evil to finally reveal the true identity of the Mastermind and works with them to defeat the henchmen.
