Maxima was born and raised on the Planet Almerac as a member of the royal family. When she was old enough Maxima became queen and traveled to Earth to make Superman her mate and rule Almerac by her side. However, Superman rejected Maxima causing her to terrorize the people of Earth until she was apprehended and locked away by the D.E.O..
When Myriad began on Earth, Non ordered Lucy Lane to release Maxima from her cell and convince the Almerac Queen to join his cause. Maxima agreed and proceeded to leave the facility but was intercepted by Kara Zor-El/Supergirl and the two engaged in a fierce battle. As they fought each other Maxima told Kara how she once sought to marry her cousin, Superman and that they could've been family which Kara found disgusting. The fight ended with Supergirl knocking Maxima out and placing the Almeracian back in her containment cell.
