Maxima was a supporting antagonist (and later anti-hero) from the DC Comics universe and a former enemy of Superman and Supergirl.

In Superman: The Animated Series, she was voiced by Sharon Lawrence.
In Smallville, she was played by Charlotte Sullivan.
In Supergirl, she was played by Eve Torres Gracie.

History[]

Maxima is the descendant of a long line of alien despots whose empire is based on the planet Almerac. Thousands of years ago, Maxima’s ancestors decided to improve the strength of their own race through interbreeding with races from other worlds.

They embarked upon a series of interstellar wars, conquering worlds whose inhabitants they considered to be excellent genetic stock and capable of inter-breeding with their own race. The strongest survivors were assimilated into Almerac’s Empire.

Maxima’s ancestors wiped out alien cultures they deemed genetically inferior. While preparing for war with the interstellar tyrant Mongul, Maxima intercepted a hologram transmission of Mongul’s gladiatorial games.

Maxima observed Superman participating in the games and decided he would be the perfect mate for her. However, Superman spurned Maxima’s advances and she held a grudge against him ever since.

Superman: The Animated Series[]

Maxima made her animated debut in Superman: The Animated Series, where she is voiced by Sharon Lawrence, who also portrayed Linda Fusco in Monk, Maggie Peterson in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, and Roberta Lynch in Criminal Minds.

DC Super Hero Girls: Intergalactic Games[]

Maxima appears in DC Super Hero Girls: Intergalactic Games as a student of the Korugar Academy.

Kite Man: Hell Yeah![]

Maxima makes a non-speaking cameo appearance in the Harley Quinn spin-off series Kite Man: Hell Yeah! episode "Portal Potty, Hell Yeah!", alongside Magpie.

Smallville[]

Maxima appeared in the Season 8 episode "Instinct" of Smallville. She was the Queen of Almerac, who sought out Clark Kent as a mate. She made her advancements first on Jimmy Olsen and then finally on Clark and even tried to kill Lois Lane in her attempt to mate with Clark. Despite Maxima's efforts, Clark rejected her and was able to send her back to Almerac using her bracelet. She was played by Charlotte Sullivan, who also played Marion Hawthorne in the 1996 film Harriet the Spy.

Supergirl[]

Maxima appeared in an episode of the 2016 CBS series Supergirl. She was portrayed by former WWE Diva Eve Torres.
