Maximus Elephante, also known as The White Elephant, is the main antagonist of the 2005 Italian animated film Leo the Lion. He is an aggressive elephant who seeks to marry Savannah so he can become king of the herd.
He was voiced by Carlo Conti in Italian and by Matthew Mercer in English.
Biography[]
In the past while the humans are illegally hunting elephants, King Eli Phant was knocked down, but survived. Maximus was jealous of him and wanted to steal his leadership position. So he used hunters to knock him out and get him captured without the knowledge of other elephants. After Ele's possible death, his wife Queen Savannah remained pregnant without her husband.
Several months later, another hunting season begins in the jungle. Savannah was about to give birth to her calves when she met the lion Leo. Leo fled with Savannah's calves when the hunters started a fire in the jungle. After a long time, Maximus started to pursue Leo to bring Savannah's calves back and marry her.
At the end of the journey, Leo says goodbye to his friends and decides to return the calves back to Savannah; however, Maximus finds him and decided to take and return the calves on his own to win all the credit. But on the way back, Maximus abused the calves and threatens to kill them. Leo tries to stop him and Uncle Lope appears to help him. But when Savannah appears, Maximus lied that Leo wanted to devour their calves and tries to kill him, but ends up hitting Uncle Lope who almost dies but survived.
Leo decides to go after them and stop the wedding, revealing to Savannah and the other elephants that it was Maximus who was the cause of Eli's disappearance and wanted to marry her so he could become king. Maximus becomes enraged and battles Leo, until he was caught in a trap and ends up being captured by hunters and gets taken away, finally defeating the villainous elephant. He was never heard from again.
