Biography[]
Past[]
The Mayor, a once stern and loyal Chief of War, had dedicated his service to an Emperor in China. During this period, Lady Bone Demon disguised herself as a human advisor named Ivory Lady, guiding the Emperor towards a path of enlightenment and benevolence for the betterment of the world and its people. However, as Lady Bone Demon keenly observed the ruler and his advisors turning a blind eye to the suffering of the innocent, she made a fateful decision to eradicate the existing Mortal Realm, deeming its flaws to be beyond redemption. Within the Emperor's court, the presence of Lady Bone Demon held an undeniable sway, causing even the once resolute Mayor to succumb to her insidious influence and become an accomplice in her grand scheme to create a flawless world.
As a testament to her immense power, Lady Bone Demon bestowed upon him a fraction of her own formidable abilities, but at the cost of his very humanity. As the days unfolded, Lady Bone Demon unleashed chaos upon the Emperor's kingdom, transforming it into a crystalline wasteland. The Mayor, now a mere shadow of his former self, confronted his once revered Emperor. However, the ruler, consumed by paranoia, hastily accused the Mayor of colluding with Lady Bone Demon to overthrow him from the very beginning, branding him a traitor. The Emperor's usefulness had come to an end in the eyes of Lady Bone Demon. Seizing the opportunity, she commanded the Mayor to end the Emperor's life. Without hesitation, the Mayor fulfilled this dark command.
After the passage of countless millennia, the Mayor renounced his former title and acquired the Skeleton Key after Macaque discarded it. With this newfound artifact in his possession, he secretly transitioned into the role of the Mayor of Megapolis.
Season 1[]
Season 2[]
The Lady Bone Demon assigned the Mayor with the important task of retrieving the magic lantern from Macaque, as it was a crucial ingredient for the bone mech. Coincidentally, while the Monkie Kids were participating in a shadow play, MK and Mei spotted the Mayor, who was also part of the audience in order to gain access to Macaque. Eventually, the Mayor confronted Macaque to obtain the magic lantern, but also took the opportunity to kidnap Macaque, as Lady Bone Demon had some unresolved issues with him. Subsequently, Lady Bone Demon decided that the Spider Queen was no longer necessary and commanded the Mayor to eliminate her henchmen. The Mayor, in a demonic form, agreed to the task and systematically killed each of the Spider Queen's henchmen. Finally, the Mayor assisted Lady Bone Demon in creating the bone mech by combining the remaining ingredients, including the Spider Queen, in the Trigram Furnace.
Season 3[]
Following the successful reforging of the Samadhi Fire by the heroes, the Mayor made a desperate attempt to persuade Lady Bone Demon to retrieve the fire. However, Lady Bone Demon firmly rejected the Mayor's offer, asserting that she would eventually obtain the fire on her own terms. As Monkey King arrived to confront the Bone Demon, the Mayor attentively listened to their conversation before engaging in a fierce battle with Monkey King under the guidance of his master.
In the midst of the intense clash, the Mayor clung onto Monkey King, attempting to hinder his movements. Yet, Monkey King skillfully fought him off, questioning Lady Bone Demon about the Mayor's involvement in her future plans. With a resolute response, Lady Bone Demon denied any association with the Mayor. Lady Bone Demon cunningly stripped the Mayor of his powers, utilizing them to corrupt Monkey King in the same manner she had done with the Demon Bull King. Despite Lady Bone Demon's betrayal, the Mayor remained undeterred, firmly believing that Monkey King, corrupted by Lady Bone Demon, would become an unstoppable force.
Nevertheless, Macaque apprehended the Mayor and presented him to the Monkie Kids for interrogation. Reflecting on his past, the Mayor disclosed the entirety of Lady Bone Demon's nefarious plan. The Monkie Kids demanded that the Mayor reveal how Monkey King had previously thwarted Lady Bone Demon. However, the Mayor dismissively refused their request, deeming the information irrelevant. He explained that Lady Bone Demon's current intentions were far grander than her previous scheme, as she aimed to recreate the entire universe rather than solely the mortal realm. This shift in her ambitions meant that celestial beings like Monkey King won't be able to prevent her from achieving her malevolent goals. Mocking the group, the Mayor declared that it was now Lady Bone Demon's time to rise once again.
With a sinister laugh, he described it as a fresh start and a clean slate, precisely as Lady Bone Demon had meticulously planned. The Mayor ominously warned that Mei would ultimately surrender the fire, as Lady Bone Demon's overwhelming power made her victory inevitable. Confidently, he proclaimed that Lady Bone Demon's triumph was assured. However, Macaque interrupted by revealing that Lady Bone Demon was vulnerable as long as Monkey King remained corrupted. Subsequently, the Mayor was abandoned in the mystic mountain as the rest departed for the final showdown.
Trivia[]
- The Mayor was initially thought to be a demon created by Lady Bone Demon because of his unusual characteristics, which was supported by Jeremy Adams, one of the writers of Monkie Kid. However, it was later revealed in Season 3's special that this belief was false. It was shown that the Mayor had fallen under Lady Bone Demon's influence and gained his powers through her possessions. These possessions were later used to possess Monkey King, similar to how Lady Bone Demon had possessed the Demon Bull King. Macaque further emphasized this when he referred to the Mayor as Lady Bone Demon's lapdog. This distinguishes the Mayor as one of the few antagonists who was either human or used to be, rather than being a demon or a creation. Syntax follows suit.
