Biography[]
Scamboli is the mayor of the city of Scamboville, which is designed with only technology. He dislikes children and nature as they are unable to be controlled by his machines. When his daughter Marlene expresses concerns over a lack of space for children to have fun, he builds a theme park called Scamboland. He steals control over the city's lights to brighten his park for the Grand Opening, only to be thwarted when Geppetto steals the electricity to bring Pinocchio to life, causing a power outage.
Later, Cab and Rodo, Scamboli's dimwitted minions, take Pinocchio to Scamboli, where he asks Pinocchio for advice on bringing more children to his park. Pinocchio mentions that life would be easier if kids were more like him. This gives Scamboli an idea and offers Pinocchio a job as the park mascot, which he gladly accepts. While Pinocchio performs an opening ceremony, Scamboli kidnaps Geppetto to test his latest introduction to his park, a roller coaster called "A Whale of a Change", which turns its riders into Scambobots. Upon realizing that he helped Scamboli with his goal, Pinocchio runs off to find Geppetto.
Pinocchio and Spencer use Cab's shuttle to reach Scamboland, where they discover the robotized Geppetto and the children. Scamboli uses his remote to make the Scambobots chase after Pinnochio and Spencer, chasing them into the "Tunnel of Danger". Spencer manages to grab the remote, only to drop it where Cab gives it to Geppetto, controlling the other Scambobots to get Scambolli.
After Pinocchio destroys Scamboli's laser gun by reflecting the beam with his medal, Scamboli attempts to escape by hitching a ride on the shuttle, only for it to be shot down by Scambocop who was previously chasing the stolen shuttle and shoots him down into an opening in the Whale. With the help of Marlene and Spencer, Pinocchio reverses the ride to convert the Scambobots back into human children. However, once it was Geppetto's turn, Scamboli pushes a button that turns off the ride, forcing Pinocchio to go inside of it and fix it. Inside, Scamboli attempts to manipulate Pinocchio into why he shouldn't turn Geppetto back into a human. Pinocchio manages to trick Scamboli by continuously telling lies to make his nose reach a button that resets the ride. Scamboli is caught by a cart and moved into the chamber where he turns into a Scambobot, much to Marlene's shock. He is then told by Spencer to say sorry to the people. He is last seen in the end credits, watering flowers with Marlene.
Appearance[]
Scamboli is a bald man wearing a metallic suit consisting of a tuxedo and red pants. He wears a red mask over the sides of his head, with two speaker-like devices covering his ears.
Personality[]
Scamboli is a tyrannical figure who admires machinery over anything natural. He sees both children and life as random factors that cannot be accounted for, motivating him to turn them into metal so they can become something that he can understand. His only redeeming quality is his love for his daughter, and is very protective of her.
Trivia[]
- He could be based on Mangiafuoco from the original Pinocchio story, although he more resembles the Coachman.
- His name is based on Stromboli.
- Scamboli isn't very bright. He would have the entire city's parents come after him in a angry mob for turning their children into robots. And there's nothing he can do about that as the law isn't something he can hide behind as what he did to the children counts as maiming along with cruel and unusual punishment.
- In general concept, Scamboli is very similar to Eggman from the Sonic games, with his passion for robots and desire to replace everything with technology, his black and red color scheme, his habit of naming things after himself (obvious examples: Eggmanland and Scamboland), and the fact that both have metal hedgehogs working for them. Even Cab resembles one of Eggman's robotic servants.
