Mazellian is a supporting antagonist in Heroes of Might and Magic IV, The Price of Peace campaign. He was a necromancer, later an assassin, a lich and the ruler of a underground undead kingdom.
Biography[]
Mazellian was in love with a girl named Daeraphena, however, she did not love him because he was ugly and pale. She was in love with another man, but the lich found out. He killed the man and turned the girl's body into ice with a powerful magic. However, the girl also had magic power, so her spirit left her body. The lich locked the ice-frozen body in a prison in his castle, where he often went inside. Mazellian really loved the girl, almost obsessively. He somewhat regretted turning her into ice, however, he often kissed the icy body and thought they would be together for good now. However, Solmyr, a powerful genie, a loyal follower of Queen Emilia Nighthaven, arrived in his underground realm. The ghost of her met him and told him what had happened. Solmyr was very interested in the origin of a crystal of magical power that his former master Gavin Magnus wanted to use to subdue the world in the name of peace. He offered to help the genie by freeing her from Mazellian's curse. The Lich had three fortresses, the two most important of which were Mazelar and Mazzak. Solmyr was constantly fighting against the undead and eventually managed to capture the first fortress, Mazzakk. Mazellian, however, was in the other fort, but the genie found the girl's icy body. The girl's ghost told her that a kiss could break the curse. At first Solymr didn't want to believe it was working but eventually kissed her and freed her from the curse. She told him about the crystal she knew, but the mission wasn't over yet. Mazellian was still a threat to both of them, so the genie set off with his army to stop him for good. He met the lich and his army before Mazellar. The lich was not an easy opponent, but the genie eventually defeated him and occupied the other fort as well.
Powers and Abillities[]
Mazellian was a very strong lich, a serious and dangerous threat to Solmyr. He was an experienced archer, but what made him an extremely dangerous opponent was his magical powers. He was a master of Death Magic, capable of casting the Hand of Death spell, which instantly killed one or more living beings, and was able to create an aura of fear and mass sorrow. Mazellian was also a very talented mage, as he was capable of cryokinesis, the manipulation of ice, and, without knowledge of Order Magic, the Pain Mirror spell, which reflected half of the damage he suffered back onto his opponent. Since he was a lich and undead, he was also immortal.
