Mazera (Japanese: マゼラ Mazera) is the main antagonist of Y School Heroes and the overarching antagonist of Yo-kai Watch!, being the leader of the N Kind alien army and the arch enemy of the YSP Club and its allies, after he destroyed the Yo-kai World in the latter series.
It has a titan shape called Mazera Titan (Japanese: マゼラタイタン Mazera Taitan), and its true form is called Mazera Bolt (Japanese: マゼラボルト Mazera Boruto), that he can transform at will that makes its appearance in game, which is his final form in the anime. In reality, Mazera is a black hole, while his Mazera Bolt body is more of an appendage that he acts through.
Its remnant is called Myuze (Japanese: ミューゼ Myuze), who is a minor antagonist in the second season of the series appeared in Episode 1 as the antagonist to beat.
He was voiced by Hiroshi Shirokuma.
Appearance[]
In his usual form, Mazera is a tall humanoid with horns that descend to the sides and his upper part of his head looks like a skull. He has yellow eyes, black tentacles with white spots on his head, a green face, and a large neck.
His titan form is mainly red and has a demonic appearance, with shoulders that look like angry eyes, thick limbs, and a large sword.
His true form is also mainly red but with white touches as if they were bones. He also has a pink, sideways mouth and an exposed mid-section of the same color.
Personality[]
Mazera is an evil leader who controls his subordinates with an iron fist and is capable of mentally corrupting innocent people to recruit them if they have potential. He is serious and does not usually express his emotions and sometimes laughs in a slow and evil way.
Mazera enjoys the act of devouring worlds, and believes they are best prepared to the point of being overcooked. To mitigate this, he enjoys giving people of the planet false hope, so that he may crush it and they despair. He can apparently taste this despair, and believes it to be seasoning that helps give planets their flavor.
Biography[]
Past[]
Not much is known about Mazera's past. Once a black hole, he somehow became sapient and destroyed worlds, such as the planet Titron, earning himself the name Evil Red Planet. Somehow, he also gained a following, consisting of diminutive aliens known as the Black Army and a species of parasites called Grey Agents. He also gained the power to craft himself alien bodies that could be sent down to interact with people, made from the debris he had ingested. Among the planets he set his sights on was the planet Kori, ruled by Queen Elze. She and her companions, doctor Anan and her fiancé Ozero, believed they could use the Snow Titan, an ancient construct sealed away on the planet, to destroy him. However, it required one of them sacrifice themselves. Anan, as the only one not linked to the throne, gave up his soul to the machine, freeing it. It shot at Mazera and seemingly defeated him, but Mazera simply set down his Titan form, who destroyed it with a single swing.
At some point, Mazera managed to create his alien army by invading and destroying several planets such as Dober and Nayu, among others by recruiting Dober, kidnapping Nayu and replace her with an android, experiment with Chiaki Hebiyama's gang and sending the Gray Agents to assassinate Ranto Kirigakure's family.
Y School Heroes[]
Mazera makes his debut in episode 16, gazing down at the Earth and remarking that he wanted it.
In Episode 32, Mazera summons Nayu Kuruhoshi for a progress report. Unimpressed with her lack of progress, he sends Dober to attack Earth and wipe out the resistance she is facing. Rigel is annoyed by Dober creating his own pathway rather than using the one they had provided, but Mazera notes it's simply a biproduct of his perfectionism.
In Episode 38, Mazera stops Elzemekia, who had transformed into Zodiaraia, since her previous plan to change the timeline to eliminate Ranto failed.
At the end of Episode 40, Mazera sent a Black Demon invasion and in Episode 41, a massive attack on the Y-Academy which caused the school to be sent to the moon.
At the end of Episode 45, Mazera berates Elzemekia for her failure to eliminate Ranto.
At the end of Episode 47, Mazera sends Elzemekia to kill the YSP Club and her allies. After seeing how she is failing and seeking help from him, he decides to let the YSP Club kill her so that she can see that now does not tolerate their failures.
At the end of Episode 48, Mazera decides to invade Earth on a grand scale as his subordinates failed before the YSP Club and allies.
During Episode 50 to 52, Mazera was already fed up with the YSP Club, so he decided to fight them directly by turning into his titan form to fight against the giant Onryo and the Gakkouger Enma, but ends up being defeated in that way. He chooses to use his true form to fight against Earth Walker NOA Armored, Last T-Dine, and Deep Shadow Zodiac thanks to Mazera trying to assassinate him while stopping a little method that Mazera himself sent, but while the combat happened, Jinpei Jiba becomes Black Cat, which causes a more violent battle and that Black Cat destroyed Mazera Bolt. Mazera's black hole body was ultimately destroyed wholly by Mataro.
