The Mecha-Drago is a major antagonist in Mother 3.
Personality[]
The Mecha-Drago, much like most Dragos, was once peaceful and gentle. However, when the Pigmask Army reconstructed it, it became violent and eager to kill anything on sight. It appears as if the Drago still cared for its youth, as at the time of its death its baby still comes to rejoin it.
Biography[]
Prologue[]
In the prologue, Lucas, Claus, and Alec spend time with the Dragos. It's possible that the Drago they played with was the one that got mechanically modified as they are the same color. The Drago feigns defeat each time Lucas and Claus charge into it in order to play along with them. When the mole cricket visits to quiet Lucas and Claus down from their play fighting, the Drago is peaceful and does not try to attack it. Bending down to listen to the mole cricket's speech.
Chapter 1[]
After the villagers save Lighter and Fuel, the forest fire is put out by rain. Flint is asked by Isaac if he knows what happened to Hinawa and the kids. Due to how long they take to get back home, the village goes on a search for them. A traumatized Lucas and Claus are found, as Bronson reveals that Hinawa was killed by the Mecha-Drago. This tears the family apart, after a fit of rage Flint is sent to Tazmily's jail, but soon after is broken free by Claus, who claims to be going out so he can get "stronger." In reality, Claus plans to kill the Mecha-Drago. This later causes him to go missing, as Flint and Alec head to the mountains in search of Claus. When they finally arrive, he is nowhere to be seen. The Drago finally comes out from behind a rock, its new form horrifying Alec as it proceeds to engage with Flint in a battle. After the Drago is defeated, Flint plans to kill it but its baby jumps in front to protect it. Alec tells Flint not to kill the Drago, as it'd make the baby go through what Lucas and Claus went through. However, it's likely the Drago soon succumbed to its wounds anyway, its hide pierced by the same fang it got stuck in Hinawa when it killed her.
Trivia[]
- Unused sprites imply that early in development suggest that the Drago would've been killed by Flint despite its baby being present at the end of Chapter 1.
