The Mechanizer is the Piranha-themed monster of the Machine Empire serving Klank and Orbus and a minor antagonist in Power Rangers Zeo. He served as the main antagonist of the episode "Mr. Billy's Wild Ride" and a supporting antagonist in the episode "A Golden Homecoming."

He is voiced by Eddie Frierson who previously voiced the Octophantom, Weldo and the Artistmole in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and later voiced Terror Tooth in Power Rangers Turbo, Ironite in Power Rangers Lost Galaxy, Strikning in Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue and both Frax and Rabbitcon in Power Rangers Time Force. Aside from Power Rangers, he is best known as Datamon from Digimon Adventure.

Biography

Past

The Mechanizer was manufactured by the Machine Empire, working under King Mondo and Queen Machina. With their monsters and never-ending army of Cogs, the Machine Empire was able to devastate and conquer entire galaxies. Compared to the other monsters, the Mechanizer was usually used for less demanding and challenging jobs; instead being used to cause mass destruction and devastation. He became so well known for this that Klank would later recognise his destructive talents.

Zeo

In 1996, King Mondo leads his Machine Empire to the Moon where they drive out Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa but their invasion is ultimately stalled by the interference of the Zeo Rangers.

After the death of Mean Screen, Billy Cranston reveals that the Aquitarians and Hydro Contaminators have made peace so comes home but the Machine Empire disable his ship and capture it in a tractor beam. The Zeo Rangers use an antenna to draw it towards Earth but the power cell burns out so they need to get a replacement power cell before he falls into the Sun. However, the Machine Empire's sensors detect the power Mondo sends Klank down with the Mechanizer to ambush them, destroy the warehouse and eliminate any hope of saving Billy. The Mechanizer does battle with the Rangers and manages to completely overwhelm them but accidentally starts a fire which quickly consumes the building as it begins to explode. When the male Rangers go after the power cell, the Mechanizer goes berserk and tries to kill them but misses every attack. Inevitably, whereas the Rangers manage to escape with the power cell before the building explodes, the Mechanizer is not as lucky and is killed when the building is blasted apart due to being at the heart of the blast zone. Due to his body being completely destroyed in the explosions, the Mechanizer is not able to be enlarged by Klank and Orbus.

After Prince Sprocket complains about Punch-A-Bunch damaging himself during battle against the Zeo Rangers, Boohoo the Clown is indirectly referenced along with all previous monsters used up to that point when Machina reassures her distraught son that the Rangers have ruined all of their monsters.

When Adam finds a cog medallion whilst training for a karate tournament, Klank bemoans how this could lead to the failure of the plan with Admiral Abominator but Orbus mentions it not being the first time; indirectly referencing the Mechaniser.

Later on, after Trey of Triforia transfers his Gold Ranger powers to Jason Scott to deny them to Mondo, the Machine King executes his ultimate plan; recreating an army of past monsters (including the Mechanizer) and upgrading them with the Neo-Plutonium Armour. The new and improved monsters are much stronger than they were before and are completely immune to the Rangers' weapons with the ultimate mission of destroying the Zeo Megazord.

Turbo

Although the Mechanizer is never seen again, he is mentioned by Bulk as the very first monster on thier Monster Tour job. He mistakenly says that the Zeo Rangers fought the Mechanizer on a street corner when it was really in a warehouse.

Personality

“	Klank: Splendid effort, Mechanizer. Keep up the good work and King Mondo will give you a handsome reward. Ha ha ha! Mechaniser: I don’t care about any of that. I just want to destroy.	„

The Mechanizer is an extremely simple and violent monster who enjoys causing chaos and absolute destruction. Even after being promised a reward from Mondo, he declined it since he just wanted to cause mass destruction. The Mechanizer is also shown to have a temper, going berserk when the male Rangers went for the power cell and this tantrum likely led to his death. However, he also win't very intelligent as his own actions led to his death although he is loyal to Klank and Orbus.

Powers and Abilities

• Strength: The Mechanizer can throw around the Zeo Rangers, take the Zeo Rangers down with single punches, send Tommy flying with two punches, grab and throw down Rocky, toss around Rocky and Tanya, wield a large barrel like a club and throw off all three male Rangers when they grab him.
  • Sturdiness: The Mechaniser barely moved when Rocky and Tanya ran into him in an attempt to knock over the monster.
  • Charge: The Mechanizer can charge with enough force to ram back Tommy and pin him to a wall.
• Durability: The Mechaniser could shrug off multiple punches from the Zeo Rangers.
• Powerful Bites: The Mechanizer has extremely strong bites, being able to chomp down with enough force to rip holes in metal poles.
• Lightning Blasts: The Mechanizer can spray blue lightning from his eyes which were strong enough to cause large explosions and knock down the Rangers.

Arsenal

• Fists: The Mechanizer has no weapons of its own but is a brutal fights with its bare hands.
• Jaws: The Mechanizer has large silver teeth which he can use to try and bite down on his enemies with immense force.
• Barrel: The Mechanizer used a large metal barrel to strike down Tommy.

Trivia

• In Ohranger, the Mechanizer was an entire species of monsters created by biting humans and infecting them with parasites; the one from "Mr Billy's Wild Ride" actually being a converted human.
  • Alhough this was cut from the Zeo episode, the parasites were still seen in the Zeo episode as one of them was shot by Tanya which she claimed was one of the Mechanizer's "blasters."
