The Mechasms are the overarching antagonists of the Krosmoz mythos, serving as the overarching antagonists of the French animated TV series Wakfu and overarching antagonists of its prequel Islands of Wakfu.
They are a species of aliens that waged war against the Eliatrope and Dragon people because of the Eliatrope inventor Qilby’s actions and are responsible for most of if not all the series’ events in general.
Appearance[]
Each of the Mechasms have been stated to look similar to machines and are mostly mechanical in terms of appearance as seen with Orgonax and the Mechasms that attacked the Eliatropes although they seem to vary in size with Orgonax possibly being the biggest. In Qilby’s story, they are depicted as gigantic black and red creatures which may be for the former to blame them as the aggressors and make himself look innocent in comparison.
Biography[]
Past and Meeting the Eliatropes[]
The past of the Mechasms is unknown for the most part but the only things that are known about them is that they weren’t native to the Eliatropes and Dragons’ planet and seemed to have been flying around space for a short time until they came to the Eliatrope planet with both races initially having peace. Unfortunately, their peace would be shattered when the eldest Eliatrope by the name of Qilby seemingly stole their prince Orgonax’s heart and made it into a device called the Eliacube so he could leave the planet to stop his own boredom and travel the Krosmoz with the Mechasms attacking the Eliatropes and a war starting shortly thereafter, after the Eliatropes fled their ruined planet, they made it to the future World of Twelve where they would live peacefully again until Orgonax found them without the rest of his people.
Islands of Wakfu[]
In Islands of Wakfu, Orgonax returned to kill the Eliatropes for good while the others presumably abandoned the goal and were somewhere else, a different race called the Lu-Fu’s instead aided Orgonax in his quest while the youngest members of the Eliatrope Council, Nora and Efrim began their training. The Mechasms do not appear at all in the game except for Orgonax but Qilby’s treachery involving them was mentioned several times. At the end of the game, Orgonax possibly ends up getting destroyed by Eliatrope’s power but dies along with Nora, Efrim and their platypus while all life in the world was destroyed until new races repopulated it.
Wakfu: The Animated Series[]
The Mechasms serve as the overarching villains in the series along with the Shushus, but are not revealed until Qilby’s debut and don’t play an active role in the series until the fourth season. Despite this, their influence is still felt as their war killed multiple Eliatropes, Dragons and possibly some of their own with the Eliatrope children becoming orphans and being watched over by the dragon Balthazar in the dimension Emrub after the deaths of their parents.
Trivia[]
- The war against the Mechasms is first alluded to in season 1 while they make their first physical appearance in season 4.
- The Mechasms seem to give people their hearts willingly should they impress them enough as hinted at by Qilby before his death which implies that Orgonax did the same for Qilby only for the Council of Six to cover it up and Orgonax to possibly want his heart back.
