When cast, Medusa's gazes into her prey's eyes and reduces their health down to a single hit point. If Medusa's target is already that weak, she instantly kills them with a blinding flash of sorcery.

When summoned, Medusa appears as a ghastly disembodied head of a woman with a fanged mouth and snakes for hair. Her skin is light slate-blue in Fire Emblem Gaiden and vivid purple in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.
Biography[]
Nuibaba was once a beautiful young girl who lived happily with the man she loved. However, one night she was attacked by bandits, who left a hideous wound upon her face. Nuibaba's would-be husband to began ignoring her in favor of her younger sister. Eventually, the man and sister grew tired of Nuibaba's presence, and together they led her deep into the woods and pushed her off a secluded cliff. Attracted to the scent of death, the ghastly apparition of Medusa appeared before the broken body of Nuibaba. With the promise to restore her and bestow the gift of sortilege, Medusa formed a contract with Nuibaba in exchange for the latter's soul.
Now an undead witch, Nuibaba killed her former lover and sister for their betrayal. Secluding herself in the woods, she became obsessed with everlasting youth and beauty, and for several years, kidnapped and sacrificed numerous maidens from Northern Rigel to Medusa in exchange for extending her lifespan and preserving her visage. To learn more secrets of sorcery, she also joined the Duma Faithful, members of whom also made use of Medusa's services. At the request of the cruel Rigelian General Jerome, Nuibaba kidnapped Tatiana, a saint of the Duma Faithful. While Nuibaba eventually intended to use Tatiana as another sacrifice, she kept her alive as a hostage to force the otherwise honorable knight Zeke to obey Jerome.
Once Nuibaba became aware of Alm, she became obsessed with sacrificing him, as the power of his Brand would render her immortal and eternally youthful. To lure him to her Abode, she created an illusory apparition of his childhood friend Celica, who claimed that the witch was holding her captive. With his army, The Deliverance, Alm stormed Nuibaba's Abode, withstood Medusa's dark magic, and killed Nuibaba, ending the witch's machinations as well as freeing the Tatiana, ultimately allowing Zeke to turn on Jerome for his own crimes.
Medusa would later be summoned by the Arcanist Gharn, who defended Duma himself during their last stand against Alm and his allies. Despite their best efforts, Medusa and Gharn are ultimately unable to stop Alm from slaying Duma.

Trivia[]
- Medusa's name and design are derived from the monster of Greek Mythology. The effect of her summon likely comes from the mythological Gorgon gaze, which turns foes to stone but doesn't necessarily kill them.
