~ Meg after shooting Jim. |
Meg Penner is a minor antagonist from American Dad!, serving as the secondary antagonist of the episode "Wife Insurance." She was formerly the Smith Family's dentist, whom Stan had selected to be his "backup wife." After Stan tried to call off the plan, she attempted to kill his wife, Francine.
She is voiced by Amy Sedaris.
Appearance[]
Meg appears to be a middle-aged Caucasian woman with short, brown hair. She was seen wearing a white coat suitable for her job as a dentist, as well as glasses, a purple necklace, a light-blue shirt, dark-blue pants, and high heels.
Personality[]
When Meg was first introduced, she appeared to be very professional. Stan proposing that they break off their backup wife arrangement seemed to leave her completely unfazed, going to far as to comment that she'd thought that the proposal was a joke.
It was later revealed in the episode that, in actuality, Meg was madly in love with Stan, and that she had been trying to play it cool earlier. She had become so obsessed with Stan that she was willing to kill Francine over it, preparing to shoot her before the gun was knocked out of her hands. Her love for Stan was revealed to be greater than her hate for Francine when she took her shot at Jim instead of her, as he was about to kill Stan.
Biography[]
Wife Insurance[]
Meg is first mentioned to be Stan's backup wife when the idea was originally introduced to Francine. She was later formally seen after Stan went to break things off with her. Meg acted professional and somewhat confused as Stan told her to get over him. After suggesting that her appointment cards were love letters and making a ridiculous face at her, he left.
She was later seen again after Stan and Jim broke through Stan's home window during their fight. Meg was sitting in a chair, pointing a gun at Francine's head, where she revealed to Stan that her earlier dismissal was all an act. Francine knocked the gun out of her hand, and the two proceeded to fight as Stan and Francine made up for their earlier fight about having backup relationships. During the fight, she kicked Francine's tooth out by accident, but offered to put a cap in its place. Francine angrily (and, of course, quite understandably!) told her that she wouldn't be going to her anymore, prompting her to sarcastically wish Francine luck in getting her dental x-rays back.
Meg eventually got the gun back, but instead of shooting Francine, she shot Jim for attempting to shoot Stan. After doing so, Stan told her that he loved her. The two ran to embrace each other, but before she could, Stan grabbed the gun out of her hands and punched her to the floor. While Stan and Francine were hugging, Meg attempted to get back up, but Francine kicked her in the face without even having to turn and look at her, knocking her out for sure this time.
100 A.D.[]
Meg is seen again briefly in a cameo in "100 A.D." In this episode, she is seen among the many previously-seen American Dad! characters who are trying to hunt down Hayley and her fiancé, Jeff Fischer, for Stan and Francine's offered reward of $50,000.

Trivia[]
- Meg's genuine confusion when she was first introduced was most likely done to have made Stan look crazy, as he played it off as if he knew she was playing it cool. This also allowed for her obsession with Stan to have been a dramatic twist.
- It is unknown what happened to Meg after she was defeated, as she only appears to have been knocked out. Although given her being free in "100 A.D.," it is possible that Stan and Francine opted not to press charges against her and let her go free.
