HOW DARE YOU BROW ME?!
~ The Mega-Megamind raging at Megamind after the latter taunted it with his eyebrow, also its most famous quote.

The Mega-Megamind is the main antagonist of the 2011 DreamWorks short film, Megamind: The Button of Doom.

It's a robot that was created by Megamind to originally aid his efforts against Metro Man. However, it was forgotten by his creator for a long time until it was accidentally activated by Megamind through the titular button which is actually the mind-core of the robot. Believing that Megamind is Metro Man, due to his white suit and cape, the giant robot started attacking him and will not give up until its target is destroyed.

Just like Megamind, the Mega-Megamind is voiced by Will Ferrell, who also played the Black Knight in Family Guy, Jacobim Mugatu in the Zoolander duology, Larry the Architect in the MTV Movie Awards parody of The Matrix Reloaded, Franz Liebkind in the 2005 The Producers adaptation, Deangelo Vickers in The Office, Cam Brady in The Campaign, Lord Business in The LEGO Movie duology, and Maxime Le Mal in Despicable Me 4.

Appearance[]

The Mega-Megamind appears as gigantic robot around 80-90 or even 100 feet tall. Some parts of it are colored in metallic blue, those parts include the feet and the lower halves of its legs, as well as its lower trunk. Its mid trunk is small and can be extended like an accordion. Its upper trunk is bigger and larger and has three big Ms spread on its pectorals (for Mega-Megamind). On its right hand, it has a wrist launcher with a red button that launches whatever is on the launcher upon being pressed. Its left hand can become a rocket fist that apparently can be guided by the Mega-Megamind. Its head has two large screen projectors, one above its eyes for the pupils and one below the eyes for the mouth. The "brain" is represented by blue electricity around a glass dome coming from the button that activated it and is attached to the head.

Biography[]

Megamind: The Button of Doom[]

The film starts with Megamind opening a "Evil Lair Yard Sale" where he tries to sell his inventions to the citizens of Metro City, with the reason that he doesn't need more "things that do evil" since he is a hero and not a villain anymore. After he spotted the Spider Bot, Minion tried to convince Megamind of keeping it, but Megamind denied, hurting the Spider Bot's feeling. In the end, almost every single invention has been sold, including the De-Gun sold to a boy who accidentally turned her mother into an ice cube.

After Megamind showed his new "super-secret superhero super suit" outfit that copies most of Metro Man's powers to Minion, he looked himself in a mirror before looking at Minion holding a strange button. Minion told Megamind that this button was the only thing he couldn't sell (other than the Death Ray) since he doesn't know what it does. Megamind, believing the button opens the door of the garage, pressed it. The button started hovering and projecting an hologram of Megamind's head, which spoke to the real Megamind (referred as "hero" by the projection) saying that he unleashed an unspeakable evil upon Metro City, adding that he will not like it before flying away laughing.

As the button opened a area which started to open, Minion asked Megamind what was the "unspeakable evil". Megamind answered that he had many evil plans over the years. Minion deduced that he forgot, with Megamind arguing that Minion should have cataloged all of them, adding that it was his fault, causing Minion to protest about that. The two of them soon started thinking about what invention the "unspeakable evil" might be, mentioning various inventions along the way. Meanwhile, a giant robot started to activate itself, with the button putting itself in the robot's head, with a glass dome closing and blue electricity coming out of the button. Just as Minion was about to warn Megamind of the robot. Megamind remembered what it was, adding that it was his favorite.

Megamind introduces the robot as the Mega-Megamind, with the robot soon saying "Ollo". Megamind stated that he transferred his evil personality into this giant robot, with Minion advising that they should turn it off. The Mega-Megamind spotted Megamind and believed it was Metro Man due to the white suit and the white cape. Megamind simply answered that he is indeed the defender of Metro City just like Metro Man was before starting to fight the Mega-Megamind. With the super-strength gloves, he threw the Mega-Megamind in the air briefly before the robot stepped on it upon falling back. When the Mega-Megamind lifted its foot, it taunted calling Megamind gross while saying that it stepped on a pile of hero.

Before the Mega-Megamind could step on him again, Megamind used his super-boost boots to avoid the foot and flew toward the robot. However, the robot expanded its mid trunk causing Megamind to fly past it and ramming into a wrecking ball which collided with another wrecking ball causing Megamind to be sent flying into his evil lair, creating a hole on the roof in the process. As soon as Minion found Megamind in the Invisible Car (which wasn't sold in the yard sale), the Mega-Megamind called Megamind a chicken (prior to mimicking a chicken's noise) and started searching the lair from outside. Megamind revealed he programmed it to never stop until the hero is eliminated, which in this case was him. When Minion asked if the gigantic robot was looking for him too, the Mega-Megamind asked where was the hero's "mysterious friend, who's dressed as Minion for some reason". After Megamind proposed Minion to live in the Invisible Car from now on while the Brain Bots brought them snacks, Minion didn't agree, adding that they'll have to face the Mega-Megamind eventually. After Megamind described how much of a failure the new him was, Minion said that he doesn't need to be (or at least to be like) Metro Man and just be himself. Megamind agreed, but remembered that they sold all of the evil stuff, but Minion revealed that he didn't sold the Spider Bot for sentimental reasons. Megamind soon started thinking of a plan, before spotting the model of the Death Ray.

Outside, the Mega-Megamind asked if there was anyone home before ordering the "hero" to come out so it could squish him. Megamind soon caught its attention and lured it away riding the Spider Bot. The Mega-Megamind lost Megamind but the later soon re-revealed himself, asking the robot if it was "in the mood for a slice of hero pie". The Mega-Megamind replied that only if it comes "à la explode" before firing its rocket fist toward him. This exploded a container, but caused the Mega-Megamind to lose sight of Megamind. Megamind soon reappeared again and taunted the metallic behemoth with his eyebrow, enraging the Mega-Megamind. The robot took a car and used its wrist launcher on its right hand to launch it at Megamind, but missed. The Mega-Megamind took other cars (and a bus) and shot at Megamind, but still missed.

Megamind lured the Mega-Megamind to the damaged observatory and as soon as the giant robot was close enough, Megamind ordered Minion to fire the Death Ray, but briefly received no response before Minion told him that there was a slight problem, that problem being that Megamind's super suit damaged the Death Ray's controls. Megamind told Minion to find the remote, before trying to hide from the Mega-Megamind. When Minion tried a remote, it activated the Spider Bot's speakers causing the Mega-Megamind to find both Megamind and the Spider Bot before catching and attempting to kill them. As soon as Minion found the remote, Megamind prepared to leave through the Mega-Megamind's wrist launcher. The gigantic metal behemoth declared that it hated spiders (saying "spee-iders") before trying to crush Megamind, instead pressing the wrist launcher's button, launching Megamind and the Spider Bot away. Minion activated the Death Ray, and it fired at the observatory. The Mega-Megamind could only utter "Oh no!" in terror right before the Death Ray's laser destroyed it, defeated the evil artificial intelligence for good.

Personality[]

l transferred my evil personality into a giant robot. Man, I do good work.
~ Megamind describing the basic of the Mega-Megamind's personality.

As Megamind stated, Mega-Megamind has his evil personality. Throughout the mini-movie, it shows to be arrogant most of the time, taunting the targeted "hero". It can also become enraged easily when taunted back at it, as shown when Megamind taunted it with his eyebrow, enraging Mega-Megamind and causing it to became more hellbent on destroying the hero.

We're in trouble, Minion. l programmed it to never stop until it eliminated the hero. lt's out there, searching for me.
~ Megamind revealing part of the Mega-Megamind's program.

Additionally, it is programmed so that it stops at nothing to destroy Metro Man and any friend/ally of his, if he has. This led to its undoing as it relentlessly pursued Megamind, who the robot believed was "Metro Man", to where the Death Ray was going to shoot.

Despite having Megamind's evil personality, it isn't as smart as Megamind itself, as the robot was unable to recognize not only Megamind in his white suit, but also Minion and even the Spider Bot since the latter was one of Megamind's own invention. However, it is smart enough to a certain degree, as shown how it outsmarted Megamind in their first confrontation.
