You come when called. You do their bidding. In hotels you take the side elevator to avoid crowds. While the men who pay your salary walk across the ivory marble foyer into their cars.
~ Megan to Aaron Hotcher about her hatred for the victims.

Megan Kane is the main antagonist of the Criminal Minds episode "Pleasure is My Business". Megan is a high-priced escort who kills clients who remind her of her father, who abandoned her as a child.

She was portrayed by Brianna Brown.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Megan's father Andrew was a successful businessman who frequently cheated on his wife, Megan's mother. Andrew had an erotic asphyxiation fetish, so he solicited an escort named Katherine for six years. Megan's parents divorced as a result, Andrew remarrying, but Megan was especially spiteful from Andrew willingly choosing to not put his money to alimony and child support funds. Megan began international travels to educate herself, returning to America to confront Katherine when she was nearing retirement from sex work. Megan hated her for being a part of her family's destruction, but she decided her client list was useful and bought it off Katherine. Intent on trying to get the names used or released to her attention to stop the high-class men's solicitation of sex workers, she wanted worse and was out to find clients like her father, hoping to kill them one by one over the same sorts of divorces and rejection their child lives and financial support for them she suffered.

"Pleasure Is My Business"[]

Acquiring a rat poison abbreviated in its long name as "TETS", once she became familiar with which clients met her father's profile, Megan started killing them by poisoning their drinks, hoping the revelations of their betrayals would humiliate them and break the culture of secrecy of the remaining men. After Michael Stanton, Megan entertained Hoyt Ashford with a cowboy fantasy before his drink's tainting took effect, kicking his phone away when he tried to call for help to ensure he'd die. When the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) were called to investigate, she met Agent Aaron Hotchner in the elevator, asking what floor she should press for and lying she's in the stock market before leaving for the next john she was meeting.

When she wakes him to return to his life and family, she looks up Hotchner, starting with one of his press conferences, seeing him as the father figure she never had. She kept killing, however, poisoning a tape-bound Joseph Fielding in his office chair, still posed and in his underwear, "X"s painted over his closed eyes in lipstick. The press were swarming to get information, just as she hoped in an ensuing scandal. The legal teams of all the clients were given her profile to alert them in the interest of information, as their investigation was off the books.

Megan then met Trent Rabner, who stayed with his wife until she died of cancer and had no children. She reassured him falsely when he informed her of her own murders being investigated, but ultimately, behind her wooing him, she was set off when he said the FBI would do whatever he and his people made them with their power. Furious, Megan taped and gagged Trent in the driver's seat of his car, holding a pistol against his temple while calling Hotchner. She emotionally professed her disdain for his failure to keep the crimes from being noticed, bemoaning her personal resentment he was "another whore" used by the clients to protect themselves. Despite Hotchner doing his best to dissuade her, she shot Trent dead, then called the news to the parking garage where he was killed to further attack the secrecy campaigns. Her profile was finalized enough to identify her, and Hotchner was shocked and personally affected from finding out she's the women he met in the elevator, understanding and sympathizing with why she was obsessed with him.

Megan lures Andrew to his preferred hotel to meet Katherine, coldly boasting about her crimes to him. He tries to appeal to her, but when she stands by never forgiving him for his actions, he briefly chokes her. Megan is near killing Andrew with her hidden gun, but when he offers to use his legal team to help her escape, she's moved and shares a hug with him. Andrew mutters that he has an ultimatum of wanting Katherine's client list. Now sure that he doesn't care about her, she gives him the phone with the list, but with the SIM card retaining the list already removed. Andrew realizes the truth in his car, as BAU Agent Emily Prentiss arrests him.

By the time Hotchner arrives with backup, Megan already laced a drink for herself and drank it. He sits with her, and she mutters that there is no hope to change the men she hates. She then gives Hotchner the SIM card and insists he release the names. Knowing he was divorced, she says with how he cared about her, she never understood why his family fell apart. Pleading a promise from him to stay until she died, she held her hand until she went limp and lifeless in her chair from the toxin's effects. Hotchner leaked the client list, ruining the johns' lives, as Megan would have wanted.
