The Megasparkle Goomba is a supporting antagonist in the 2011 role playing game Paper Mario: Sticker Star. A Goomba who came across a Royal Sticker and given power because of it, he was given a fortress where he guards the way to Bowser's castle.
Appearance[]
The Megasparkle Goomba is a Goomba, a brown mushroom-like creature with big eyes and eyebrows and brown shoes. The Megasparkle Goomba wears the red Royal Sticker, a decorated red crown, on top of his head, and has yellow pupils.
When fused with the other fifteen Goombas, the Megasparkle Goomba becomes a massive laminated square sheet of paper with a Goomba design on it. Their eyes are still yellow, being the only design difference from the amalgamation and a normal Goomba.
Personality[]
“ | The power of that sticker changes a Goomba, y'know? It changes your body and your MIND. I didn't sign up for that. | „ |
~ A Goomba about the effects of the Royal Sticker, noting it changed the Megasparkle Goomba for the worse. |
The Megasparkle Goomba seems to be completely obsessed with his shine, often including adjectives that exemplify his gleam in his sentences. The Megasparkle Goomba also seems to be a terrible boss to his minions, overworking them to the point of exhaustion during his battle.
That being said, the Royal Stickers are suggested to have altered the wearer's personality, making them violent and irrational. It's implied that the Megasparkle Goomba was once friends with his minions, but after coming in contact with the Royal Sticker, his mistreatment of them afterwards is what led to their friendship ending.
Biography[]
Paper Mario: Sticker Star[]
Long ago, the Megasparkle Goomba was a normal Goomba living in the Goomba Fortress. When Bowser shattered the Sticker Comet and caused the creation of the Royal Stickers, one came down from the sky and fell into the fortress. One Goomba eventually found the sticker, and the rest were overjoyed, with this new Goomba declaring himself as the king of the fortress. At an unknown point in time, Bowser had found out about the Royal Sticker, and decided to let the Goombas keep it safe for the time being.
Mario, having been recruited to collect the Royal Stickers, makes his way to the top of Goomba Fortress, where the Megasparkle Goomba awaits. Mario tries to engage, only for fifteen other Goombas to reveal themselves and attack. While at first, they seem to attack in a group, the Goombas reveal their real ability to fuse together to create a giant paper Goomba. While like this, Mario must either use the Fan or Scissors when the bond between the Goombas are weakened, which will result in the Goombas separating. The other Goombas, tired of the Megasparkle Goomba pushing them around, decide to quit, leaving the Megasparkle Goomba to fend for himself.
Upon defeat, he proclaims that the power that was once like a dream is now gone, and as he falls to the ground, he disappears into a puff of confetti, the red Royal Sticker now free from its owner.
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam[]
While the Megasparkle Goomba does not appear in-person, a papercraft in his image, known as the Papercraft Megacrinkle Goomba, is fought as the first papercraft boss as a barricade to Goop Goop Dunes. The mech is piloted by a single Goomba at its head, though whether or not this is the same one is unknown.

Trivia[]
- The Megasparkle Goomba is one of two bosses that were specifically designed to be defeated without using their required Thing sticker. Defeating him without the Scissors or Fan will have Kersti ask if there was a quicker way to take the Megasparkle Goomba down.
- He shares this with Petey Piranha, who does not have a Thing sticker weakness.
- That being said, it is possible to defeat the other main bosses without using Thing stickers, but they generally require heavy stockpiling and exploiting the game's battle system and status effects.
- Aside from Bowser, he is the only Royal Sticker holder to have an official render.
- The Megasparkle Goomba is one of three original bosses in Paper Mario: Sticker Star, the others being Tower Power Pokey and Mizzter Blizzard.
