At one point after the zombie outbreak, Melvin and his brother, Ennis formed a group of survivors called "The Vultures". He also found an orphan girl named Charlie and took her in as his daughter.
They went around Texas waiting for nearby communities to fall apart so they can take over them.
Meeting Madison's Group
Sometime later, Melvin and his group came across the Dell Diamond Baseball Stadium community led by Madison Clark. They loaded the walkers surrounding the stadium into a truck and waited outside. They also sent Charlie into the stadium as a spy.
Day after day, they've been getting supplies from Madison's group.
At one point, Melvin crashed his bus outside the stadium, and Charlie asked for help from Madison. They found him and took him in, handcuffing him to a bed. He then tells Naomi that the community is close to collapse and asks her to join him. After some pleading from Charlie, they let Melvin go.
That night, however, Ennis released the walkers from the truck and they attack the stadium, overwhelming it.
Sometime after the fall of the stadium, one of Melvin's henchman, Edgar was found by Morgan Jones and John Dorie, who warn him of Alicia's ambush.
Melvin arrived at an abandoned race track with Edgar and a large group of Vultures. To the shock of Alicia's group and John, they discover that Naomi is among them. Alicia tried to shoot Naomi but John got in her way, wounding him and causing a gunfight to break out. During the carnage, Melvin tried to escape in an ambulance, but Alicia blew it up with a grenade.
After the battle, Melvin (who survived the explosion) crawled out of the wrecked ambulance, only to be stabbed in the head by Alicia.
- Melvin is similar to Norma from The Walking Dead: Michonne. As both leaders wanted to negotiate with another community while their sibling wanted to take the violent approach.
