Yeah yeah that's me, yup. Merak, the mighty super genius commanding officer. I just wanna go home and jam some MMORPGs, so let's make this snappy, K?
~ Merak.

Merak is a member of the Sumeragi Group, one of the seven adepts under the command of Lt. Nova Tsukuyomi, and one of the major antagonists of the video game Azure Striker Gunvolt. He was placed in charge of Sumeragi's Subaquatic Base and has an affinity for creating spatial wormholes.

Merak's Septimal power grants an affinity to create wormholes. In which, it grants him to conjure spatial portals to move objects by gravity, including water. Merak's Armoured Form has a robotic hovering chair with a pair of arms, that can also assist him with its firepower, a built-in computer, or even a toilet. He can mix his chair's firepowers with his wormholes with a simple and effective results. His glaive is called "Unwavering Spirit".

He's voiced by Yuta Kasuya in Japanese dub, Vinay Murthy (OVA) & Travis Turner (Gunvolt 3) in English dub.

Appearance[]

Merak is a pre-teenage boy with blue eyes and somewhat spiky brown hair, with his bangs covering right eye. He wears standard Sumeragi executives' uniform, with the jacket unbuttoned, the shirt untucked, a pair of white and black shoes with light-blue soles. He usually wears blue headphones.

His armed form, Merak's irises matching with his blue hair, while gaining black eyes. He also has dark blue horn-like appendages attached to his head. Wearing a dark blue armor with light blue highlights and white gloves, which fitting for a genius. He is seen sitting on the ursine skull-like throne with a pair of large robotic arms.

Personality[]

Aw, come on. Why are you still alive? Wouldn't it have killed you to just drown? I don't wanna do any actual work.
~ Merak being confronted by Gunvolt.

Being based on sin of sloth, Merak is known to be a slacker, apathetic, and has neither conviction, nor motivation, as only in Sumeragi office in order to get paid for vacation because it easily benefits him. He appears to be fond of escapistic activities such as playing video games, and he has a tendency to use some gamer slangs and sarcasm. However, he is a brilliant strategist and incredible genius, while also being ditzy. He is capable of using wormholes, from mundane stuffs, to elaborate good plans when he puts the effort in order to get rewarded. Compared to any Sumeragi Seven members, he is calmer and has more rational mindset. Because of his intellect as a child prodigy, he's chosen & scouted by Nova to the Sumeragi Group as one of the high-ranking officials.

Unlike Nova, who has grander goals by attempt to subjugate the Adepts because they can be dangerous people, Merak's goal was simply getting paid and some vacational days. He's so negligent that he doesn't bother caring about his drowning subordinates when he uses wormholes to create a water trap to drown gunvolt, resulting in flooding. He's also the accomplice behind Elise's experimentation, making him a deplorable villain.
