Biography[]
In "Little Orphan Eric", Eric was required to go down to his old orphanage, Mushpickle's Home for Parentally-Challenged Youth, so that his former headmistress, Meredith Mushpickle, could check up on him in his current life and see how he was doing. He was also required to bring along prominent figures in his life, including Trevor Troublemeyer, Kitty Ko, Vana Glama, Professor Pamplemoose, and Martin Troublemeyer. (Surprisingly, Maxum Brain, his sole caretaker was completely absent from all this)
When they got to the orphanage, they were greeted by a pile of pickles that rolled up on the ground and then formed the shape of a creepy, hunchbacked old lady named Meredith Mushpickle. Meredith Mushpickle welcomed Eric back to his home and to interview all of Eric's friends and guardians in hopes of "getting the answers the wants" for Eric's sake. She then rudely remanded that they all go into her office. Unfortunately for Eric, Meredith did not get the answers she wanted as she gathered from all of his companions that Eric was getting into a lot of trouble outside of the orphanage.
After the interviews were over, Meredith came back and immediately trapped Eric in a cage, officiating that he is to be taken back to the orphanage once again, much to Eric's horror and dismay. Eric's friends tried to get him back and got into their battle stances to fight with Mrs. Mushpickle. However, Meredith took out a book of laws, that listed off all the official town rules of Normalton, (the town where her orphanage stands), and showed them that one of the rules about sidekicking, stipulating that engaging in any sidekick activity in Normalton is punishable by volunteer work at the community pool. Eric's friends gave up on trying to save him, not wanting to suffer such a fate and with that, they abandoned their friend and left him in the custody of Meredith Mushpickle.
At the orphanage, Eric played with his old orphanage friend, Glenn in their crappy old room. The room was a cold and unlivable cement room with caged-up windows, cardboard boxes, dirty old beds in rusty metal bedframes, and a swarm of hideous, disease-ridden rats crawling all over the place. No matter what he did, Eric would repeatedly get mauled by these rats. Mrs. Mushpickle sat idly by and allowed all of this to happen. Eric was fed up with the orphanage and asked Glenn to help him with escaping.
Eric and Glenn worked together to sneak out of the orphanage but Mrs. Mushpickle caught them and stopped them at the door. Eric decided it was best to settle this the old-fashioned way and sword-fought with velocipedes. Meredith eventually activated a trap door for Eric to fall into but Glenn jumped up and attacked Meredith by squeezing her face, distracting her long enough for Eric to escape. When Eric got out the door, Meredith Mushpickle turned into a bunch of pickles to get out of Glenn's grasp and rolled after Eric, regenerating in front of him once again. Fortunately, Eric's friends from the Sidekick academy busted in through the gates, using the Maxum Tank, having changed their minds and now being willing to save their friend, even if it meant coming at the risk of cleaning the community pool.
Eric jumped into the tank so he could make his escape but Meredith Mushpickle jumped in right after him, demanding Eric come back. When Eric and the other sidekicks refused to give up, Meredith made a speech convincing them to submit to her demands. She told them that Eric had no parents, or structure, or supervision back in Splittsboro. She told them about how the world of sidekicking was a violent and scary place to be and that Eric would be much safer at the orphanage with her in Normalton. This moved Eric and the other sidekicks and made them get all teary-eyed, believing that maybe it was best that Eric lives in Nromalton. However, Trevor was unnerved by the "mushy huggy moment" that was underway, and just shoved Meredith Mushpickle into the Maxum Tank cannon and fired her across the skies, where she landed in a big fiery explosion. With that, the sidekicks had no choice but to change their minds back again and return to Splittsboro, which, despite Meredith's manipulation, was ultimately for the best.
