Any idiot can work a needle. But gettin' someone to work a cock, that's another story.
~ Merle Jackson.

Merle "Trigger" Jackson is a minor antagonist from the 2016 Hangar 13 video game Mafia III.

He is the boss of the prostitution racket in New Bordeaux and a member of the Dixie Mafia, a white supremist group. He is also a womanizer who frequently beats on women, in addition to committing several deplorable sex crimes.

Biography[]

Background[]

After Sal Marcano eliminated the Black Mob, he had his son Giorgi allocate ownership of the Delray Hollow district to Ritchie Doucet. During this transfer of power, Doucet was granted ownership of a nightclub called Perla's Nightclub, which he put one of his subordinates Merle Jackson in charge of. After Merle joked about turning Perla's into a brothel, Doucet did just that, and had it turned into a place where white men paid to have "exotic sex" with black women, all of whom were forced into prostitution thanks to blackmail Doucet had on them.

Events of Mafia III[]

According to Charles Laveau, an informant for Lincoln Clay, Merle kept a number of black girls on stand-by for his patron customers that he called his "thorough-breds". They were a trio of women who became addicted to heroin and other hard drugs supplied to them by Merle's goons. As a result of their addictions and being frequently physically abused, they became less resistant to their frequent rapes, both by Merle's customers and his associates. He also had two other pimps, "Rooster" Desaulniers and "Dirty" Gert Delong, operating a smaller set of brothels out of a two-bit motel on the outskirts of town, whom Lincoln robbed and (determinantly) killed for their crimes.

After Lincoln successfully dismantled Doucet's Forced Prostitution racket with Laveau's assistance, he infiltrated Perla's, freeing several women who were locked in their rooms, unable to leave. He then killed several of Merle's goons before making his way up stairs to Merle's office and brutally murdering him by slicing his throat after he attempted to kill Lincoln and called him a racial slur.

Trivia[]

  • He is the one of two racket bosses in the game that the player is forced to kill, second being Chester Moreau.
