Merlin is the main antagonist of the video games Shrek for the Xbox and Shrek Extra Large for the GameCube, both loosely based on the first Shrek film.
Loosely based off of the wizard from the Arthurian legend, he is an evil wizard who had reigned terror over the land of Duloc Hills, an expanded version of the city of Duloc from the first film, and kidnapped Shrek's wife Fiona. From there, Shrek must now travel to his tower, but an impassible fog had been placed by Merlin all throughout the land, which can only be removed from Shrek performing good deeds.
His voice actor is currently unknown.
Appearance[]
Merlin is a scrawny old wizard with a long white beard. He is seen wearing a long red robe, has a gold cap on his head, and carries around a scepter with a yellow crystal ball on it.
Biograhpy[]
Shrek (video game)[]
In the Xbox release of the game, simply called Shrek, Merlin reigns terror on Duloc Hills, and had kidnapped Fiona. The Magic Mirror notifies Shrek of this, and Shrek then embarks on his quest to stop Merlin. In order to reach his tower, Shrek must perform good deeds around the area in order to remove dark clouds that he had summoned. He then fights Shrek, but is then defeated by him, when Shrek reaches his tower.
Shrek Extra Large[]
In the GameCube release of the game, under the name Shrek Extra Large, Merlin's role in the game is nearly identical. Though unlike in the Xbox version, Extra Large provides a reason for why he kidnapped Fiona. He had done so in order to bait Shrek into defeating the Wicked Ice Queen, who had trapped Merlin in his tower, in order to get back his crystal ball, which she had stolen. Even though Shrek returns the crystal ball at the end of the game, Merlin still tries to kill Shrek, only to then get defeated by the ogre.
