The Merry Men are supporting antagonists in DreamWorks' 5th full-length animated feature film Shrek, the first installment of the Shrek film series. They are a group of outlaws that follow Monsieur Hood.
They are played by Matthew Gonder, Guillaume Aretos, Calvin Remsberg and Jean-Paul Vignon.
History[]
Shrek and Donkey are taking Princess Fiona to Farquaad, due to the deal they made with him, in Sherwood Forest, when Monsieur Hood kidnaps Fiona to "save" her on the grounds that he believes Shrek has kidnapped her.
Then Hood calls the Merry Men to sing a song about them stealing from the rich to give to the poor (albeit taking a "wee percentage" for themselves) and saving bridesmaids, which escalates when Monsieur Hood attempts to stab Shrek, only then Fiona kicks him in the face, knocking him out. The Merry Men thus fight with Fiona, but she defeats them.
They also reappear at the end of the film after Lord Farquaad's defeat, they are seen at Shrek and Fiona's wedding and at the Karaoke Dance Party where they sing the Village People's YMCA.
Video Game[]
Monsieur Hood and his Merrymen appear in the first level as a mini-boss. They are required to be beaten in order to progress through Shrek's swamp.
