I don't think he died peacefully or accepted his death. He might not have been screaming and groveling like in the manga, but it's likely he ran out of energy and anger to resist and simply died with all of his emotions drained.
Didn't I remember Light screamed "I don't want to die", like he's really fearing and rejecting his own death in the manga? The anime version was like a complete opposite, he accept his own fate, but you mentioning that he simply died from exhaustion and drain from all of his emotions...I'm just confused as to what does it mean.
The anime sounded more sympathetically than the manga due to the changes in the epilogue (e.g. Teru Mikami's loyalty) and its sad ending music called "Coda～Death Note", and fans more so supported Light in this version over the manga.
What I meant by drained from all of his emotions is like after you've exerted a certain amount of anger or frustration, afterwards it feels as though all of the fight has left your body. Perhaps I'm overthinking this, and the anime does indeed show Light has a semblance of regret for his actions, but I still don't think it necessarily means he had a peaceful death. That's just me: personally, I never supported Light Yagami.
Sorry, I was doing it accidentally. I'd written this large section about his personality, and you can see it. I had to write it twice, because I don't know how to resolve edits manually. I'll finish the page up, but please don't make any more changes ;-;
Sorry, it's just that after your edit, all of the headings were arranged into one giant mess of text, and I was cleaning up the page to make it better and more informative. Look at the changes; I don't think they're bad.
