~ Peppy Hare when the Metal Smasher tries to bite Fox McCloud, Star Fox SNES |
The Metal Smasher is an antagonistic character from the Star Fox franchise. He acts as a guardian of Venom in Star Fox SNES (or Starwing in Europe).
Description[]
The Metal Smasher is a massive robot. His "mouth" is comprised of twin halves that have sexagonal surfaces where contact is made. Each half is framed by blue triangles. The rest of his body is not seen.
History[]
The Metal Smasher is stationed near Venom alongside the Phantron and Great Commander, his job being to protect the planet alongside them. Fox McCloud and his teammates encounter the Metal Smasher high above the planet. After a lengthy fight with the behemoth, Fox kills him, forcing the Galactic Rider (who was tagging along with the Metal Smasher) to retreat to Venom.
Combat[]
When the Metal Smasher is encountered, he quickly rises up from the surface of Venom.
The Metal Smasher has three attacks, with his main attack having him bite down on Fox's Arwing, though Fox can counter this attack by hitting the brakes of his ship and moving it to one side. The Metal Smasher's second attack is to throw some metal canisters (which can be destroyed by laser fire) at the Arwing. The monster's third attack is similar to his second attack, though a bit faster, and the projectiles are laser rings that cannot be shot down, so Fox has to perform barrel rolls to dodge the attack. (If he performs an aileron roll, he will dodge some of the laser rings, but will take damage from the rest, depending on how early he performs the roll.)
The Metal Smasher's jaws are his weak points. Upon having one disabled, he is unable to use the crush attack. After disabling both halves, the Metal Smasher is defeated, sending the Galactic Rider to the planet.
