Metal Sonic is a major antagonist in Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog comic book series. He is a robotic doppelgänger that is based on Sonic the Hedgehog, and eventually, Shard the Metal Sonic.

Biography[]
Pre-Super Genesis Wave[]
Rather than a single robot, Metal Sonic v3.0 was a series of Sonic-based robots. They were much less durable than their predecessor, and usually ended up destroyed for good during their very first issue. The last Metal Sonic model to be constructed was Metal Sonic v3.8, who was presumably rewritten by the Genesis Wave to have been the first and only Metal Sonic during the "Worlds Collide" event, during which he teamed up with Bass against Sonic and Mega Man.
Post-Super Genesis Wave[]
After the Super Genesis Wave rewrote the Prime Zone, the history was altered so that there's always been only one Metal Sonic, who continuously served Eggman and attempted to prove himself superior to the real Sonic. He had betrayed his master once, but had a failsafe installed after said incident to avoid a repeat.
