Metamorphia is a minor antagonist in the Sonic the Comic comic book series. She is an artificial shapeshifting life form created by Grimer Wormtongue to deceive and destroy the Freedom Fighters. She aspires to satisfy Dr. Robotnik by doing so, in spite of him not caring for her.
Biography[]
Grimer created Metamorphia to serve Robotnik, utilizing her disguise ability and deception to lead his enemies into traps. She first utilized this ability by posing as a girl in trouble to get Sonic the Hedgehog's attention before attempting to kill him. However, she fell into lava herself, surviving only by assuming a fireproof form.
Metamorphia returned with a new fake alias, "Cosmic the Hedgehog", once again attempting to trick Sonic by challenging him to erase. She planned to split him and his friends apart to have Badniks destroy them, but fell into her own trap when she chose to morph into Sonic, causing Badniks to attack her instead. The villainess later posed as Sonic's long-lost brother Tonic, who he didn't remember having and thus rejected the suspicious hedgehog. Tails discovered that Tonic was indeed Metamorphia, and she attempted to kill him, but was defeated and sent back to her home in Grim Zone by Robotnik and Grimer.
Metamorphia's redemption
Metamorphia, still obsessed with earning Robotnik's appreciation, attempted to kill Shortfuse the Cybernik and Tekno the Canary. Not only she failed once more, despite mistakenly believing that she succeeded, but the fact that she failed to prevent an explosion in a factory in the process finally convinced Robotnik to discard her by having her powers removed and processing her into an ordinary Badnik. Even in this form, she continued to antagonize the Freedom Fighters, attacking Tails the next time she encountered him. During the battle, her shell was destroyed, and she broke down due to having failed her master once more, only to ultimately declare that she hated him now. This somehow caused her to shapeshift once more, taking the form of a girl similar to the one she used to trick Sonic. Having gone through the metamorphosis, she decided to lead a new life and left, with Tails sympathizing with her.
It's unknown if Metamorphia was affected by Super Sonic's EMP that destroyed all Badniks on the planet, but she was eventually seen once more in the reality created by an omnipotent Robotnik, who summoned her and other villains to fight Sonic.
Personality[]
For most of her pagetime, Metamorphia was characterized by her trickery and ruthlessness with which she pursued her mission. Her only concern was to earn the approval of Dr. Robotnik, in spite of how cruel he was to her. Eventually, however, she turned on him and decided to lead a peaceful life.
