Rex Mason, also known as Metamorpho, is a minor antagonist in the Injustice: Gods Among Us prequel comics.

Biography

Metamorpho was once a superhero, but things took a dark turn when Superman established the Regime to eliminate crime, imprisoning not only criminals but also superheroes. Amid this oppressive regime, Metamorpho willingly joined as a warden to keep an eye on the inmates, believing he could make a difference from within.

One day, Plastic Man arrived at the prison with a single mission: to rescue his son, Luke McDungham, who had been unfairly incarcerated. Using his unique abilities, Plastic Man located Luke’s cell and, through security cameras, spotted Metamorpho monitoring the area. As they strategized their escape, Plastic Man cleverly freed Luke and decided to liberate other supervillains in the prison as well.

Just as they were about to make their exit, they encountered a strange gas filling the corridor. It turned out to be Rex, who initiated a friendly chat but soon revealed his true intentions. Rex coldly demanded that Plastic Man surrender to the One Earth Regime. Plastic Man refused, which triggered chaos in the underground prison. With his refusal, a massive fight ensued, leading to the destruction of the facility and allowing all the prisoners, both villains and heroes, to escape. It was a pivotal moment that set the stage for a new era of uncertainty, where allegiances would be tested and heroes and villains would be forced to reevaluate their roles in a world devoid of freedom.

Deadstroke is on a mission from Batman, and not only does he accept it, but he also seeks revenge for being put out of business. He tracks down the location of S.T.A.R. Labs to find an item a green kryptonite weapon. after he infiltrates the Regime soldiers, he encounters Metamorpho, who steps in to stop him. They engage in a fierce battle that proves to be quite challenging for Deadstroke due to Metamorpho's metahuman abilities and immortality. In a desperate attempt to gain the upper hand, Deadstroke throws a fireball at the wall to create a distraction. But Deadstroke's Metamorpho counters with a remote-controlled projectile aimed at s Metamorpho's head, causing him to stumble. It’s unclear whether Metamorpho is dead or just knocked out as the battle reaches its climax, leaving their fates uncertain.
