Metro City Soldiers are supporting antagonists of the 2009 film, Astro Boy. They were highly trained soldiers that served as the military and law enforcement of Metro City under the command of President Stone.
Personality[]
Metro City Soldiers are basically law enforcement military that seemingly have no regard to life endangerment like their boss, President Stone. Though they mostly follow orders from him, they are basically ordered to do the mission as told, as they have been assigned to capture and retrieve Astro Boy at all costs upon finding out that the blue core is inside him.
Biography[]
Metro City Soldiers are first shown in the beginning where they are marching down the hallways at the Ministry of Science as Dr. Tenma is having a discussion with President Stone. Upon finding out that Toby Tenma had entered the Ministry of Science so he can see a demonstration of the Peacekeeper, they attempt to capture him but Stone orders to release him. However, they decide to place Toby in a closet to prevent interference, but he secretly swipes a card from one of them. They also oversaw the demonstration of the Peacekeeper and prevented Elefun from interfering when he tries to order Stone to not put the red core on the robot. But when Toby is suddenly killed by the Peacekeeper, Stone orders the soldiers to open fire on the robot but Elefun destroys it when he unplugs one of the devices and puts it on the Peacekeeper's chest.
They are later seen in President Stone's shuttle where they fly around Metro City. When they find out that the blue core is still alive, but inside Tenma's replica son, Astro Boy, Stone orders the military to retrieve it. Upon finding out that it's inside Astro, Stone orders all his military forces to capture and engage Astro Boy at all costs, leading it to a chase around Metro City. During the chase, one of the Stingers accidentally capture a dog, a tablecloth, as well as Mr. Mustachio's girlfriend. They then successfully capture and retrieve Astro Boy so he can be brought before Stone but he is able to use his rockets and lure them into a nearby building, crashing into each other. However, one of the soldiers falls to his doom only to be saved by Astro. Realizing that all attempts to capture him have failed, Stone orders his soldiers and Heckler to summon the Spirit of Freedom, a highly modified battleship drone with missile firing capabilities. After Astro puts the soldier to safety, he encounters the military's fighters surrounding him and tries to challenge them to a fight. They flee soon afterwards just as the soldier jumps off the building. The Spirit of Freedom then appears and fires at Astro, but when they find out that he's falling off into the surface, Stone angrily declares a state of national emergency and orders all military personnel that they will not leave until Astro Boy is captured and found.
They then proceeded to arrest Tenma and Elefun for creating Astro and hiding the core's existence from him but Tenma objects, promising to give the core to Stone once he captures Astro.
Upon finding out that Astro Boy is in the surface, competing in Hamegg's robot games, they then land and surround both Astro and Zog when Astro tried to stop the latter from killing Hamegg. Zog then tried to attack most of them but Astro orders him to stop before allowing himself to be captured by Stone. They then arrive at the Ministry of Science where Tenma decides to shut down Astro so he can retrieve the blue core to stone. When Tenma allows himself to be killed, the soldiers surround him at gunpoint but Elefun protests that he will have to be killed instead. As Stone orders Elefun to give the core to him, they find out that Tenma had a change of heart by having to reactivate Astro, still accepting him as his son. Stone orders his soldiers to open the door and having his men point guns at Elefun. He then angrily retrieved a blaster from one of the soldiers and ordered to have Elefun open the door once more but once refusing, he was able to swipe a card from him and open the door himself. However, Tenma lets Astro escape, angering Stone and has his soldiers arrest both Tenma and Elefun so they can be executed for treason. Once Stone put the red core in the Peacekeeper, he is then fused by him as most of the soldiers and personnel began to flee the building. Most of the soldiers were presumed to be merged and killed by them when the Peacekeeper attacked most of Stone's former fleet offscreen. Following the destruction of the Peacekeeper, the soldiers turn their backs on both Stone and Heckler and arrest them for their crimes. They are later shown in the end of the film, about to shoot at an unknown orange alien about to destroy Metro City.
