Michizō Tachihara is a major character of the anime and manga series Bungo Stray Dogs. He firstly appears as Port Mafia member, working under Hirotsu in the Black Lizard, but during the Hunting Dogs arc, he is revealed to be the fifth Hunting Dog, the secret one. He is the fictionalized version of the author under the same name.
Tachihara is the fifth Hunting Dog, most of the time not seen by others because of his role as a spy in the Port Mafia. In the Port Mafia, he works under Hirotsu in the Black Lizards alongside Gin Akutagawa. He joined the Hunting Dogs after his older brother died in the war by Yosano's torture influenced by Ōgai Mori , which made him take on the mission to infiltrate the Port Mafia.
He is voiced by Yu Hayashi, who also voiced Mikey in Tokyo Revengers. In the English dub for season 1-3, he was voiced by Benjamin Diskin, who also voiced Szayelaporro Granz from Bleach, and in season 4-5, he is voiced by Beckles, A.J.
Appearance[]
Tachihara is a young man who has brown-orange hair, a green jacket, a white T-Shirt under it, blue pants and boots with brown eyes.
In the Hunting Dogs, he wears the usual uniform with the red coat, red cape, red special Hunting Dogs cap.
Personality[]
In the Port Mafia, Tachihara usually fakes his emotions by playing on the role of a "mischievous and no brain headed Mafioso" when he is in the Black Lizards. Although these emotions are fake, he does refer to the Port Mafia as his 'comrades' most of the times when he is with the Hunting Dogs, so it hints at the possibility that he does view them as friends in a way, Gin Akutagawa specifically. When he infiltrates the Port Mafia again, he asks Hirotsu and Gin who are on their hospital beds what they think about the Armed Detective Agency's innocence to which Hirotsu told him that if he thinks they are innocent, he is in fact a true Mafioso, which made him think about what his true affiliation should be. Pretty quickly after this, Mori discovered him out and Tachihara got scared when Mori found out that he is a Hunting Dog, thinking he was gonna die, but the latter started saying about how he can use it to his advantage.
Tachihara's ruthless side.
Despite this, as a Hunting Dog, he is pretty ruthless, like for example, the time he found Yosano during the time where the Armed Detective Agency was framed by the Decay of the Angel. He almost shot her, but in the end spared her. During their confrontation, he was also not in rage, he was just cold, wanting to get revenge on her for "killing" his brother. He also has a high sense of loyalty, almost always doing what he is told, because he believes that it defines what person he is if he takes orders. But he is also capable of his own thinking, for example, when in the Sky Casino, he thought there was no way that the Armed Detective Agency's are terrorists, which somehow broke him from the influence of the page.

Gin Akutagawa[]
Gin and Tachihara are comrades in the Black Lizards of the Port Mafia, them often working together. Despite most of time, them having a troubled relationship, Tachihara felt guilty when he got Gin and Hirotsu hurt. Gin also has a high sense of respect for Tachihara. And Tachihara also has a high sense of respect for Gin, impressed by her assassin skills. During time, their relationship becomes less hostile and more friendly.
Ryūrō Hirotsu[]
Leader of the Black Lizards of the Port Mafia, Tachihara, even as a spy, has a high sense of respect and admiration for Hirotsu, often calling him "old man". Most of the time, Hirotsu tries disciplining Tachihara and the 3, alongside Gin, work together on several missions. Also, when Tachihara told Hirotsu and Gin alone about why they should help the Armed Detective Agency, Hirotsu calmly responded back, which made Tachihara shut up. Hirotsu also risked his life multiple times for Tachihara, which Tachihara acknowledges.
Hunting Dogs[]
When as a Hunting Dog, Tachihara often talks with his comrades at the Hunting Dogs and they all respect Tachihara about his skills at infiltrating the Port Mafia. Most of the time, Teruko makes Tachihara does some of her ridiculous requests, to which he gets forced into. At meetings, he is calm and all of them see him as a good infiltrator, like the time he is asked to infiltrate the Port Mafia once again which made him do it. Although, he did attack Fukuchi when ordered by Mori, to which he died.

Midwinter Memento
Miwinter Memento allows Tachihara to manipulate metal. He often uses it to his advantage, like the time he used it on Gin to stab himself so he could make him unconscious so he could manipulate the mannequin into fighting Yosano. He controls metal several times, like the time he used it to open a stash in the Sky Casino.
