Mick Hopwood was a minor character in the 2002 and 2003 series of the British soap opera Coronation Street. He was a policeman who had a relationship with established character Janice Battersby.
Mick Hopwood first appeared in Weatherfield as a policeman and soon began dating local resident Janice Battserby. He also helped her neighbour Audrey Roberts out when her family gets kidnapped by serial killer Richard Hillman, who also framed Aidan Critchley for the murder of Maxine Peacock.
Sometime later, Mick continued to build his romantic friendship with Janince and her ex-boyfriend ex-boyfriend Les Battersby grew jealous. It was then Les tried to put Mick off Janice by telling him of her prior unsavory behavior. Mick initially dumped Janice but decided to try to make things work. Les could not let Janice go and constantly goaded Mick.
Mick eventually lost his temper and assaulted Les who got the upperhand on him. Mick lied and said Les threw the first punch which got him thrown into prison. The assault Was witnessed by Mick's colleague Emma Watts who reluctantly covered for him despite Les's pleas for her to come clean. When Emma's husband Curly found out the truth he told Mick he was a terrible person for sending Les to prison for a crime he didn't commit.
Les was let out early for good behavior and was thrown out of the rovers when he confronted Mick. Les drunkenly stole a crowbar and broke down Janice and Mick's door. Les threatened Mick with a crowbar and it became clear to Janice that Mick was lying and Les was wrongfully convicted. Mick was about to attack Les again before Curly arrived and got the two men to call a truce.
Mick and Janice got into an argument after Mick proposed and the relationship was soon over.
