Mark 'Mick' Michaelis is a fictional character and major antagonist of the ITV British soap opera Coronation Street, serving as the main antagonist in 2025.

He is portrayed by Joe Layton.

Biography[]

Mick Michaelis first came to Weatherfield in February 2025 alongside his wife Lou as well as their two daughters, Joanie and Shanice, respectively.

Upon arrival, Mick and his family appeared to settle in Weatherfield despite receiving some apprehensive from the neighbourhood due to their lifestyle. But it soon turned out that Mick was a violent man who often mistreats his wife to the point of abusing and beating her up on certain occasions. As such the pair are revealed to be the parents of Brody, a young man who had recently been imprisoned and due to be released at somepoint.

It was then Mick crossed paths with local police detective Kit Green, and it transpired the two had history in the past. They were once close friends who often got in trouble with the law until at one point Mick was jailed for a crime that Kit organized earlier on. Since then Mick had harboured a vendetta against Kit and sought to get payback on him, especially when Mick later discovered that Kit had previously slept with Lou at the time of his imprisonment and might even be Brody's real father in the process.

Soon enough Mick's nefarious streak began to affect some of the Weatherfield residents, from threatening neighbour Sean Tully after the latter's son Dylan is targeted by Brody in prison and then lashing out at local resident Gary Windass after he sacks Mick for picking on his stepson Liam during work experience at the builder's yard. Later on Mick gets confronted by Kit's colleague Craig Tinker over his crimes, prompting Mick to brutally attack Craig before fleeing from the scene. Craig later dies and Mick becomes wanted by the police. Mick plans revenge on Kit, first by attempting to kidnap his girlfriend Sarah Platt but is forced to flee when her brother David comes to her rescue. Mick then kidnaps Kit's mother, Bernie Winter, and plans to use her to lure Kit into a trap so he can kill him in revenge.

Personality[]

Mick is a cocky and obnoxious individual, initially causing chaos on the cobbles the second he moved in alongside his wife, Lou. Blasting loud music, assaulting locals and starting fights, Mick is as brutish as they come and he finds satisfaction with his actions, for example his feud with Ronnie Bailey, mentioning the latter's partner, Debbie Webster leading to Ronnie attacking Mick.
