Midnight is a minor antagonist in season 5 of Supergirl. She is a powerful alien being from an unknown planet fueled by the death she causes on other worlds. She was imprisoned in the Phantom Zone by Martian Manhunter until she was released by Malefic J'onzz.
No one knows who Midnight is. What planet she's from. One day she just appeared on Mars to fight alongside the White Martians. (Alex Danvers: But why?) Because she's fueled by death. And the White Martians were more than happy to let her loose on my people.

Midnight helped aid the White Martians in their attack against the Green Martians during the Martian Civil War on Mars many years ago. She was eventually stopped and banished to the Phantom Zone by J'onn J'onzz.
In 2019, Midnight was brought to Earth through a portal created by Malefic J'onzz using a Phantom Zone projector. She appeared before Supergirl and her friends in an abandoned warehouse. Midnight attacks J'onn J'onzz with her energy blasts and flees the scene before Kara can send her back to the Zone.
Midnight resurfaces at a Pulitzer Prize event party in Kara's honor causing the lights to blackout. The heroes confront the villain in a theater where she uses her powers to create a Black Hole, only to be defeated and sent back to the Phantom Zone by Alex Danvers.

Energy Projection: Midnight can manipulate and project energy from her hands and create shields to protect herself from attacks.
Super Strength: Midnight is abnormally strong due to her alien physiology.
Teleportation/Portal Creation: Midnight can teleport and travel from one place to another via the portals she creates. She can also use her energy to generate voids and black holes which she uses to trap her enemies.
Flight: Midnight possesses the ability to fly through the air.
Sonokinesis: Midnight is able to use her voice as a weapon against her enemies, disorientating them and weakening their defenses.
Super Durability: Midnight is shown to be endure pain during times of great stress.
Super Speed: Midnight is shown to be able to use super-speed while flying.

Expert hand-to-hand combatant: Midnight is a highly trained hand-to-hand combatant. Combined with her superhuman physical attributes, she was able to physically overpower J'onn J'onzz during their fight.
